Seriously considering Park Run!

I normally run Mon, Wed, Fri but decided to go for Week 6 Run 1 today. It went really well, although I did up my protein intake by swallowing about half a dozen flies! :-)

Thinking I might run Tues and Thurs and (depending on how it goes) repeat run 3 in the Park Run on Saturday. I've never entered before and don't really know what to expect but in the words of my exhusband "Risk Nothing, Do Nothing"

Think the sun's gone to my head :-)

Your hubbie sounds like a wise man. On the whole I'd avoid eating flies. Only flies you should be dealing with is the one in the Bartok Microcosmos :-)

Blimey had to look that one up - do you play?

I do play. Significantly better than I run too. Don't practice enough tho. "From the Diary of a Fly" if I remember rightly. The entry that starts "I had an iffy start when some pianoteach lady tried to eat me, but buzzing away happily now.." It's probably better in Hungarian tho :-)

Haha! That's brilliant!

I did suggest to my PE teacher at school that we should do competitive instrument playing instead of sports day :-) I was so bad at all sport that even my best friends didn't want me on their team - always last person to be picked :-)

Very well done- and excellent hubby advice. 😃

PS Nothing wrong with a bit of extra protein! 😄

Parkrun, just turn up and run, being first timer just listen closely to run director and the briefing, why repeat r3 carry on with 7.1.....

Thanks! Wasn't sure what was in Week 7 but just looked it up and fingers crossed it will be doable :-)

We are running twins!!! Same run again for me this morning - I did struggle thou!

I’d love to try park run but not quite brave enough to go on my own just yet x

Running twins - I like that :-)

Not sure it's bravery - just at a point in my life where I feel like just going for stuff. Wasted far too much of my life worrying about failure and what others think x

my first parkrun was w7 r1, the marshals and runners are all so supportive and there is a volunteer back runner so you don't need to worry about being last, you could always persuade a friend to come with you

Great info - thanks x

Well done! I’ve just done 7/1 following the park run route ready to run it in week 9. Just thought I’d familiarise myself with what’s in store for me, Go for it!

I run the park run route for nearly all of my runs. Haven't actually made it to the pier which is the 2.5km turn around point yet though :-)

Good luck when you attempt it x

Definitely do a ParkRun! I walked my first and then started to do my 3rd session of the week inside it, including the 5 min warm up. Everyone zoomed off ahead of me but then week by week I’ve started to head up the field. I love them and the official tone is a great incentive. Plus everyone is SO lovely!

Wasn't sure whether to do the 5 min warm up as part of it or not. It takes me about 10 mins to walk from my house to the start so I think I'll see how I go on the day. Good to know it's okay to walk at the start. Thank you x

Definitely! People go off to quickly and you end up overtaking. My first was 48 mins and now I’m running the lot 💪🏽 no one judges you. It’s fab!

Let us know how it goes if you do go for the Park Run. I was thinking about that earlier as just completed W7. Still don’t feel ready though, but I’m not sure if I ever will and maybe I should just try it and see??!

Just registered for it :-)

I would say go for it! From what people have said on here and looking at their website Parkrun is for everyone. Looking at the finishing times I would say there are definitely people who are walking the whole thing.

Will post here how I get on x
