Post run paddle 😊

I had the luxury of being in Brighton for work overnight so took the opportunity of running with my colleague along the seafront yesterday evening.

It was hot but the out run gave us a bit of a breeze (sorely lacking on the way back!) and having a flat run resulted in a PB despite the heat.

The best bit was putting my hot and sweaty feet in the sea after to cool off. Had my colleague not been with me I might have thrown my whole self in!

I wish I had the luxury of this on every run but sadly will be back to my hilly town and country running for the next one. Saturday's parkrun is the plan currently.

I am so envious - of the run and the paddle. You are doing great and very brave to run with colleagues. ☺ My colleague has just restarted C25K so once I can finally run again we may be at the same stage, so may brave it myself. No chance of a paddle in central london unless we run down to Trafalgar Sq. Can't wait to hear how you get on with Parkrun - go, girl☺

I was a bit wary of the colleague running. I don't know him well but we were due to go away together and turned out he does Parkrun so I took a risk! He's probably normally a bit faster than me but he kept to my pace so it was great. AND I could check if I could maintain a conversational pace! (Which I could until the last 5 mins 😂)

That’s amazing - I’ve never tried talking while running. Barely manage to keep breathing😹. Your stamina must have really improved - you’ll smash the parkrun. 😉

Haha...maybe! Made me laugh my elevation gain was 0.2m usually it's about 50m!

I feel guilty now. I could do it every run but I never have. It’s the thought of scrambling through the pebbles to get there I think. I yearn for ripcurlrana’s sand. Just shows the grass is always greener....

Yes when I go to the beach to swim I wear those neoprene shoes - so much easier

Bliss! And well done on a great run! My local park, the one I merrily run around, is constructing a “wild swimming lake”, due to open next year. I have visions of flinging myself in it fully clothed after my run. 😂

That would also be amazing! Our parkrun is round a lake with no swimming signs everywhere...used to be a sand quarry and we used to swim there as kids. So annoying!

Maybe it’s no longer deemed safe? When I was a kid in the ‘70s you could just about swim anywhere (and we did! How we survived I’ll never know!)

That looks absolutely the best way ever to finish a run in the heat 😃 and in Brighton too! Such a lovely town. When I was there just before Christmas there was a Santa run I have never seen so many Santa’s 🎅🏻

Sounds like fun! Last (and the first) time I was in Brighton it was so foggy and miserable that you couldn't even see the sea! I'll normally have a paddle even in winter if I get the chance to 😁

Sounds like a fab run Saartjie, and love the pic. My only chance of a beach run this year would have meant two days in a row (which of course would have been naughty 😉) so it was instead just a walk. Am hoping to do my first beach run in September, when Mrs Hoagy and I will be having a little holiday 😀
