Back pain

After the success of my inflatable 5k run on Saturday I now can’t run. Was supposed to be starting W7.

I got up Monday with the intention of cleaning, gardening and shopping only to pull my back when I started hoovering. So no run on Monday or today 😔 in-fact I haven’t even left the house because if I stand to long I end up bent over in a lot of pain.

I’ve tried doing some gentle stretches, using an ice pack and letting the warm shower run on it.

Come on back sort yourself out I need to be out running.

What a shame. Have you thought of visiting an osteopath?

Have just come from seeing the osteopath. Felt a bit silly have to strip to my underwear and bend over etc in front of him ☺️ but my back felt fab when I left although I can feel the muscles tightening already. I have to go back next week for another appointment.

Hi Kamia, they are not allowed to proscribe so can't tell you to take anti-inflammatories, but manipulation can cause a little bit of inflammation so a couple of ibruprofen can help. Hope it all settles down soon so you can get back to feeling good.

Wish I’d know that. I’m not really a tablet taker so have tried to only take them when I’ve needed to reduce pain so I can do things like going to town. It’s my daughter’s 15th Birthday today so have had to go out a few times.

I will hopefully be running again come Monday.

Keep moving. Don’t fall in to the trap of keeping still. Stay up and moving around until you can’t bear it. Take a rest then get up moving again. Sedentary time is the worst thing to do.

I did rest the first two days as I could hardly move but have been quite busy since so have had to grin and bear it. Feeling lots better today thanks.
