Lesson learnt. Running with a mild hangover is a bad idea...
went out for dinner last night with a friend. Had a lovely time and was doing a great job of drinking more water than wine.. for a while
Somewhere my good intentions went wrong.
On the plus side - I did today’s run. I made it to 25 minutes for the second time - I’m beginning to believe I can do it. And I feel better now than I did before....
But I think I need to avoid the hangover next time. You’d think at 38 I’d know better!

Before I started running I would sit there on the couch thinking how a bit warmer weather or a bit of a headwind (or even a mild hangover 😉) shouldn't make any difference to your ability to run, how wrong could I be! So well done on your 25 minutes look forward to seeing you up on the podium with that graduate medal round your neck (and a glass of wine in your hand)
I'm pretty sure hangovers and running are not a match made in heaven.
Very uncharacteristically, I haven't touched a drop since I started C25K in April (don't know what's come over me!) and can only imagine how tough that would be.
I did go out with a headache during week 2 and it was the worst half hour of my life!
Well done for completing the 25 minutes, graduation will be upon you before you know it.
Ha ha! Loving your name too. The name came from my nephew when he was small because I’m always baking. Loads of good recipes but not specific for runners. What are you thinking of/looking for and I’ll have a think and provide a recipe 😄
I'm so sorry that it's taken me so long to send this! But here is a a great chocolate cake recipe for you (it's really rich - so perhaps one to be savoured after a nice long run!)....
Heat the oven to 140C
Lightly grease a 23cm springform tin with butter and line with non-stick baking parchment
Put 250g butter, 375g dark chocolate (70% cocoa) into large heatproof bowl and heat over pan of boiling water until it all melts. Stir until smooth. Remove from pan and let it cool while you do the next bit.
Whisk 7 eggs + 1 egg yolk + 375g caster sugar together using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, and increased in volume.
Pour in the chocolate/butter mix and fold to mix trying not to knock the air out
Pour into the cake tin and bake for 40-45 mins. Remove from the oven and let it cool in the tin. Don't worry that it'll sink in the middle a bit that's how it's meant to be.
I'm now feeling inspired to go and make this to celebrate graduating today
