Hello lovely C25k ‘ers....I’ve hopped back over to your side with this post...I’m sharing this photo with you just to show you that a year ago today I was where some of you are now....a year ago! I am now on week 4 of a 10k plan. Now I know some of you will be thinking “nope, not me, I will never be able to run 10k...and I’m not sure if I will be able to run 5k” well, I thought EXACTLY the same as you, I had EXACTLY the same thoughts going through my mind. Some of you will be on week 5 too, dreading run 3 but guess what? You will do it, how do I know? Because I did it....wherever you are on the programme, even if you’ve done the first run of week one today, keep going, don’t overthink any of the runs, you can do them, even if you have to repeat them, you will do them & there’s something special about seeing the word ‘graduate’ next to your name. Yes, some runs are harder than others, but every run is there, waiting to be run, by you...so go out & run...because you can...and most of all, enjoy it because there’s nothing like it 😉

Plus, I always remember that first minute when I could kd hardly breathe, had a tight chest and throat and remember it was hot in June and I was sat in garden resting for 45 minutes before my friend came over. She looked at me and said god, what's wrong, I said this is the look after one minute of a slow jog haha, but I'm determined to do this plan. You will, she said and I did. It wasn't until September, but I did it.
Now doing stamina and speed podcasts to improve my 5ks for a while, so moving on slowly.
Plus you Bev have had your ups and downs, and it is struggle mentally sometimes, not physically, but you've kept persevering and ploughing through.
HURRAY FOR US RUNNERS, GRADUATES, CHAMPIONS 🎉🎊❤️❤️
Yey!!! Hurray quirkybee , we’ve had a great time haven’t we? And all the things we go through in our everyday lives we have shared & nudged each other along & kept each other going...which is absolutely amazing xx you have been an inspiration through my journey x
Thank you for sharing that Mummycav , that's brilliant encouragement. You were certainly a big inspiration to me on my C25K journey, that's for sure. I was, and still am quite in awe of you!
You're spot on though, don't overthink it, just do it.
Aw Hidden that's a lovely thing to say...it’s been great sharing my journey with you...& everyone on here. I never would’ve thought I’d be an inspiration to anyone ever!!! 😊
When I was struggling my way through the tough parts of C25K, you seemed to be streaking ahead as if you’d been a runner all your life, and I thought that was just amazing x
Well said! It's only been just over 6 months since I completed c25k. This time last year I couldn't run more than a couple of hundred metres without collapsing in a big sweaty wheezing heap. I started c25k last October, just after my 49th birthday, and now I have run 5k in under 23 minutes and try to fit in a 10k every month (doesn't happen very often though). I have got to the point where I like to use my runs to explore, and this can be a real eye opener to what is around your local area.
So to all those on the programme, believe in yourself and don't overthink things. You can do it!
That’s a brilliant time for 5k MikeJones68 ...my pb is 32 mins & I don’t know how I achieved that!!!! When I look back now to when I started, I remember feeling like my lungs would burst & someone, one day, would ring an ambulance for me!! But now, three times round the park is the parkrun & I do that no problem, it’s amazing!!! I’m on week 3 of ju-ju- ’s plan now so I have an 8k coming up, poss Mon & I’m a bit nervous of it but I’ll never know unless I try 😉
Thanks for sharing that with us, I remember my first run for a minute so struggled with it, today I ran for 20 minutes think to myself who is this woman 😮
Thanks Fabulous450 ...it’s always nice to read people’s exploits after graduation, I know I always enjoyed reading them...as I do now, people that have graduated 10k...I like to think that maybe I’ve inspired someone to keep going..stay on their journey..and most of all, enjoy it x
You’ve certainly done that Mummycav!! I think there just might be a little more in the running tank, so it’s a day of rest, then consolidation. I’m not sure how that works yet, but tomorrow will do now! ❤️
