Week 1 done. Buzzing (again)

30 (nearly 31) always struggled with gym (we never really got on. Now on Slimming World, losing weight consistently and have been good to the gym for 3 months now working mainly on an all over exercise programme.

But this time it’s different.. I’m loving it!

Doing this couch to 5k, I’ll be honest it’s my 3rd time on the app. I even managed to do a 20 min run but that fell to the wayside (bereavement and depression)

So what changes have I made? I realised it’s not about beasting myself or what have you, it’s all about a healthy lifestyle and it’s going to stick this time. I want to be healthier for myself and my family.

BRING ON WEEK 2!! 💪🏻

Hi Will. I’m also doing SW. but I’m a good few years older than you 🤦🏽‍♀️

But like you I’ve had a few recent bereavements and I’m off work with it all at the moment. I started the C25K last week as a way to address recent events,2 losses in as many months 😢

I’m due to do W2D2 today, I think it may be a late one. Im not buzzing at the prospect but I’m look forward to the end goal of being fitter and being able to run consistently.

Good luck and keep at it 🎉

Hi, to be truthful this hasn’t been easy. I’ve been off, I suffer with an anxiety disorder, PTSD and a form of OCD I’ve been told around my thoughts which makes things 10x harder in my mind.

You have a great attitude - this isn’t about your past this is about your future. The way I’ve looked at it, it’s just another part of Slimming world and something I have to do if I want to maintain the SW lifestyle. Keep at it, and remember to drink loads (of water 😉)

The moral of the story? If I can do it, anyone can!

Hi Hazel, I hope you find that running does help you through difficult and low times. For so many of us running is such a good way to set down the burdens and often it’s more than the legs that move. The mind moves too. Of course bereavement is so hard, but running can be a great time to think of all the things you’re grateful to them for and all of the happier moments you have shared. I’m speaking from experience of this too. So a big hug, well done and keep going! ❤️
