All I was thinking before I started was run more slowly, slowly slowly, just take it easy, relax, everyone is recommending that I slooooowwww it down... I really did try to slow down, as you can see from the first km, but I find it almost impossible, it feels so unnatural, however, on the whole the run was a little slower, which is a small achievement.
But the best news is that my achilles tendons feel so much better, a little stiff at the moment but no pain, I am putting this down to new trainers and heel drops 4 times a day, which I will continue with. I was getting a little worried that my body was about to breakdown, but I have a lot more confidence now that I am going to make it to graduation and then on to 10km!
Hope everyone has a great run today, cheers!

Sore Achilles 😬. I put Vaseline on mine before runs and choose shoes with a soft heel counter, or cut the darned things 🙂
Calf raise into a heel drop,is excellent Slowly raise up as high as you can go (off the stair) then slowly lower - again going well down to get the stretch You can do foot lifts too, and lunges All sorts of foot exercises are available 🙂
Lol! Going slow is a bit of a challenge at first because it uses different muscles - I was reading this on a very interesting set of replies I think to one of sallenson posts.
Thanks, you're not kidding it is very difficult. Been reading an article that iannodatruffe pointed me to today. It talks about the importance of doing other strengthening exercises when increasing distance, specifically the core and legs, going to fit this exercises into my regime as well.
I go to the gym when I get time. I do a lot of more strenuous aerobic stuff there on low impact machines like rowing. I also do a lot of resistance and core stuff. My balance has definitely improved.
