Darn that dream!

Having reached this far I trotted off this evening fairly confident that I would manage the 20mins however difficult it was. How very wrong I was! I pulled up short of 15mins with legs like jelly and a spinning head. I think that the problem is that I am in the process of losing weight as well as getting fitter and as such have cut right back on my carb intake as well as my booze intake. I've lost well over a stone since I started in the second week in May which I am happy about, but I'm starting to think that what I really need to do is fuel up on carbs before these longer runs. Maybe I just had a bad day, I'll give it another crack on Wednesday. Any thoughts on some strategic carbs intake?

I doubt that you need any carb loading. May be have half a banana or a handful of nuts an hour before you set out and make sure you are well hydrated all of the time. Put this one behind you and do it again in a couple of days. EJB's could help too ( sallenson might be able to deal you some illicit sugar)

Thank you, I think that you might be right. I had had a salad at lunchtime so probably a little down on fuel anyway. I do drink a lot of water through the day so that's not an issue. I'm also a little asthmatic and my chest was a bit tight yesterday as well, so perhaps just a bad day, I'll bag it tomorrow! I've read a couple of Sallenson's posts, quite brilliant!

Whoop! Half a banana and a slightly slower pace and I nailed it! Thanks for the advice. W6 here we come...

Have you tried a carb re-feed? If you dont know what it is, Google will explain it better than me 😂, but once a month or so, i’ll pack in around 2500 calories of pure carbs in a day (im usually on 1350 cals a day). Not only does it do wonders for the weight loss, i also feel less tired and gain energy from it. Might be worth a try?

No I haven't, I shall google away and have a read, thank you for the nod.

You probably need to just slow down a bit. Even if you think you are already slow. It's a different feeling running continuously and your body's not used to it yet. Make sure you are hydrated and take it easy on the next attempt 🙂

Quite possibly. The start of my run yesterday was on a slight downhill so probably did set off with a little too much vigour. I'm always well hydrated anyway but also a little asthmatic and my chest certainly felt a bit tight. I shall nail it tomorrow! Thank you for your thoughts...

Wow! A stone in that amount of time whilst doing this. You are amazing.

Ha, thank you, well I like to think so! For all sorts of reasons I've been pretty sedentary for the past six or so years so not surprising the weight seeks on. I'll probably struggle to get a lot more off but happy that I'm clearly getting fitter and feeling a whole lot better...
