I have not run ever probably not since high school so needed to boost my weight loss with some exercise and decided to give couch to 5k a try! I’m almost enjoying it at 48 years old never thought I would be running! In need of some encouragement from people who are similar to me.

Hi and welcome,

Before I started this the last time I ran was in gym at school doing cross country. I’m 42 so a long time ago now 😀

The trick is to run very slow, snail 🐌 pace, drink plenty and stretch before and after. Don’t worry about speed yet.

You’ve nearly completed 2 weeks so you’re doing well already. I’ve just completed week 4. Hitting the new mile stones each week (those extra few mins of running) makes you feel fab. You think 1min of running is difficult and then you’re running 5mins.

Good luck and keep posting so we know how you’re doing.

Andreak70 - great news on starting! Im 56, very chubby, and no fitness to speak of. I’m now at week five run 2 and taking it VERY slowly. Lots of sore muscles, lots of successes, and no injuries (fingers crossed). I’m totally sold on this program!! Good luck. 🍀

Hi, I’m also 48 and a previous non runner who recently graduated. Have faith in the program, it works, take it at your own pace and repeat weeks if you need to, I did on weeks 8, needed to psych myself up for that 30 minute run! I missed Jo Whiley so much I now use week 9 for the prompts 😀

I’m 58 and just 4 runs from graduation. I just wanted to start to do something. I didn’t think I would be running ever. Keep it up you can do it. The feeling of pride is immense the further you get.

Hi I’m 50 (overweight)and no previous running experience. I’ve just graduated if I can do it anyone can. Trick as others have said is go very slowing. Concentrate on just finishing the running bits speed can be focused on later when your stamina has increased. This has really helped boost my weight loss and made me feel fantastic. It’s so worth it 😊
