Well I did the 5k in 40 mins 02 seconds, which I’m quite happy with. But I didn’t manage to run the whole thing so feeling disappointed. Set out too fast and skipped the warm up walk (mistake) in the excitement of starting. The route was very hilly and I had to walk after 1k. I usually do my runs on a treadmill so trying not to feel too gutted...

Why disappointed? You haven't graduated yet and haven't (in the programme and theory) got to running non stop for 30 mins. Setting off too fast is a rookie mistake and one it's difficult to avoid - as you found out the excitement gets to you. Missing warm up walk does often happen at an event which makes starting off slowly quite important.
You will see many posts from folk struggling to run outside after doing this in the TM as its sooooo different, throw in hills and that makes your achievement even greater.....honestly.
Just one criticism 😉, assuming there was bling, where's the picture of it? We need to see bling when it's been awarded. Same rule as posting pics of new shoes so we can drool applies. If no bling handed out, I withdraw the criticism.
Seriously you did brilliantly. Your guts are safe for another day 😄.
You’re totally right, just easy to feel disheartened in the moment. But I’ve showered and am feeling more positive now 😊 Going to finish the programme on the treadmill and then move my running outside. I’ve got a 10K on the 30th September so just need to learn from mistakes today and rock that ❤️
You've got this. 10k by end Sept is totally doable. Just take care with the build up. There are many ways of getting to 10k but a popular one is ju-ju's 10 is the magic number over on the Bridge to 10k forum.
Once you're outside and running I doubt you'll return to the TM, except for bad, or perhaps very hot weather.
If you're only on week 8 then you are only on 28 min running. I graduated a fortnight ago and am only running 3.5k max. I think I could go further but am building it up slowly. I don't want an injury. 5k for most of us comes after graduation
Be proud of what you have today. Race for life is a great cause! Next year you will run round the whole course comfortably!!! 😁😁😁😁
Thanks, you’re so right! Was just a bit disheartening to see walkers passing me 😂 But 8 weeks ago running for 1 minuet was a struggle so I’ve come a long way!
