How do I make the runs less boring?

I am running to my own music with Laura in the background.....I am running and feeling as though I can't wait to get it over with as I'm bored (even while changing routes). I ran a different flat route yesterday and found the route a little easier than my normal run with inclines and I didn't experience my chaotic breathing....which was lovely....still bored though. Any ideas would help.

I like to focus on my surroundings. What's happening, the birds flying, the trees swaying in the wind, the happy dog chasing a stick, that beautiful roof on the house id not noticed before, how the air flowing past my face feels, the gentle swing of my loose shoulders, the sky, the flowers.... You get the picture. Every time my mind wanders back to not noticing my surroundings I just bring it back. Like meditation (which I do practice). It sounds cheesy but it works, makes you feel more alive and happy.

I am meant to be running mindfully....so yes I need to bring my mind back. Thanks xx

Can't beat mindfulness, keeps me sane. I needed a reminder to apply it to my running.

A lot of folk find podcasts a good distraction.

For me, a running commentary on everything in my view soon diverts my brain to more constructive and creative internal thoughts.

....or audiobooks. I find that I’m so engrossed in the book that I tend to forget I’ve been running for 15 mins (I’m in middle of week 7 C25K) and by the time I do realise, I’m nearly there anyway! Fully sympathise with the boredom bit.

I ran for a long time with music. However I now prefer to listen to my surroundings and stay in the moment, or I listen to a podcast.
