Boredom in the longer runs?

This is my third attempt at C25K over the past 4-5 years and physically I am really pleased with the way it is going even though I am heavier than I have ever been. Instead of worrying that I can't physically step up to each longer run I am finding that I can (not easy but manageable).

I have completed W5,R2 and my problem is that I am getting bored during the longer runs (I do listen to the radio or music, and am running outside) and so am wondering how mentally to cope with the boredom of the 20 minute run in the next run

Log all your runs...take everything in as you go, and write a running diary... Maybe make up rhymes and songs as you go along. Change your routes... reverse your routes. Just shake things up :)

Yep agree with old floss, try to mix it. Podcasts, new play lists, new routes. I enjoy day dreaming when running as it means that all is well.

As above... mix it up, maybe try a podcast to give you something to concentrate on. Once you’ve graduated you can follow plans that vary your runs a lot, so it’s only for a few weeks.

Podcast? Audiobook? Learning languages - listening only of course - there is a lady who as a audio only courses (I can check the name if you are interested). Running meditations (some are on YouTube, some are on Nike Running Club with Headspace). Day dreaming. Planning your day or next day or even whole week? Answering on existential questions for which you don't have time during normal days? Meal planning in your head? And everything previously said: changing routes, music, adding different terrain (hills, trails, stadiums, main city roads, side roads).

Afterf finishingC25K you can do speed runs, fartlek, slalom...

Thank you all - I did the 20 minute W5R3 today and was amazed that I was able to. I have downloaded some Podcasts from Radio 4 and got through the first two 14 minute sessions of Book of the Week!
