Hey guys!! I'm on week 1. Done 2 "runs" already. I've started this as a relaxation idea. I have depression and is looking for ways to quite the mind. So far it's helped a little. I'm hoping during this process to lose a bit of weight too. So any tips you guys have that you'd like to share I'd love to hear xx
Week one!!: Hey guys!! I'm on week 1. Done... - Couch to 5K
Week one!!
That’s excellent! Well done for starting!
Whatever the reason behind it, it’s definitely a positive. And if it helps with your personal situation then it’s a win win.
As for tips, I would say a couple of things. 100% do not wear shoes that either don’t fit properly or make your feet hurt at all.
I started with a beat up old pair of trainers on weeks 1 and 2 and I am still paying for it now. It got to there point where I was hobbling on my warm up walk and so nearly put me off.
Also, you can defo do the future runs if you trust the program.
Keep going and if you have any questions, or worries, post on here and loads of people will help you to graduate.
I’m sure the programme will help the depression, I’ve found a real buzz from the progress.
My only advice is trust the programme, I’m amazed at my progress after starting week 1 with no running ability whatsoever! Just take each run at a time, it works!
Running will probably help your depression, especially if you're doing it outdoors. You'll get into a routine that takes you out, which can often be difficult when you're depressed. From there on there are lots of benefits, fresh air pumped through your lungs, vitamin D boosts from sunlight, the release of endorphins triggering positive vibes .... from experience, it works.
Good luck, oh and my advice as a beginner ..... slow down
Well done for starting and welcome
I am also recovering from depression. Still on meds which also made me gain weight which caused me to get even more depressed. In beginning of May I decided it’s time to do something about it and started power walking and HIIT training on my own, and today had my first run combined with power walk. So far so good, almost 10lbs down and my moods are so high after every days exercise. Thumbs up hun, You can and WILL do it!
