C25k week one day one AGAIN. First run after injury...

So... I've not ran for 5 weeks after tearing my adductor (listen to your bodies ppl- if it hurts don't go on to run a further 3 5kms!)

I've seen an osteopath and a sports physio 4 times. Today was the day I've been waiting for! He told me that I could run for a total of 10 minutes as long as I do it in 1 minute intervals.

God it felt good to be out there again! I was grinning like a Cheshire Cat! I was desperate to keep running when Laura told me to slow down to a walk but I made myself!

I could feel it slightly in my groin but it wasn't painful and I came home and did some really long deep stretches, elevated my leg and iced it fingers crossed it feels this good in the morning.

I'm so glad to be back to running and back to health unlocked. I've missed you guys! ☺️😊😀

Oh, look! A happy girl hanging off cloud 9 :) Welcome back to your trainers, girl! Glad it went well - make sure you're not tempted to overdo it because that injury couch is ready and waiting, huh. I hope all is fine and dandy this morning.

I too am getting back to running after almost 12 weeks(!!) out following a calf tear. It does feel good though doesn't it? Take it easy and I hope your running continues to go well!

The first few timesI tried to run on it, I really felt like I was dragging a dead leg round with me! it was such hard work to do wk3 runs (I was at w8 prior to injuring leg at work!) . On the advise of my physio I rested up for a further two weeks and continued to focus on things like strength and flexibility, calf raises, squats and cycling. When I started running the next time (a week ago) I decided to abandon the run / walk format for a while and just gently jog. Was amazed that I happily plodded for 8 mins this way and my leg felt much better. Subsequently ran 10mins and then 15 mins yesterday. Leg feels a little tired today so will see how it goes. I am also making sure I take two rest days in between runs at the moment. I also bought a foam roller and this seems to help when my calf feels tired. Good luck with your recovery. Have to admit I still feel quite worried at times that it may pop again but I have tried to do everything the physio has suggested and as you said, I also try to listen to my body!

Finally, I also have a very beautiful new pair of ASIC Kayanos that feel like slippers and I'm sure have helped! 👍
