Week5 run 3.... the big one

Apologies for the late report but this social butterfly was out last night so it was run, shower and straight out the door. I did dress first else the neighbours would all need therapy...

So how did it go?... I was very nervous about this one and struggled to get my head in the game. For the first quarter u was battling the inner demons who were telling me 20 mins or a very long time. So im going slow and thinking splut this into 4 consecutive 5 min runs..you can do 5 mins.

Now into second 5 mins and still not feeling it, but still going. Check watch, OMG I'm at 9 mins 30 secs .. not run for this long since about 92 (1992 not 1892). This is now officially the longest I've run. Yay for me !!!

Into third 5 mins now and this is hard. Slow down, slow down but keep plodding.at 13mins 13 secs now my shoelace comes adrift which is annoying. Still going tho. Does anyone recall that horrid slogging sound when your shoe is undone and about to come off ? On s more serious note I'm now running very weirdly because of my insecure shoe, and im worried about hurting myself. So decision made and a quick pit stop to 're tie my errant footwear and I'm off again. And we are just kicking over into the last 5 mins

Last 5 and I'm struggling. I cannot believe that a small stop of about 10 secs has destroyed my pace. I cannot get any rhythm back. This is just going to have to be done slowly and through determination.

Yes I did finish it. No I didn't stop apart to retry my shoe which was for at the most 10 or 12 secs so I don't care I'm chalking it up as complete and successfully completed at that. 2 lessons for me. 1 double the my laces in future and 2. Stopping and restarting on a long run is incredibly disruptive.

I have to say tho, that run was incredibly hard for me and I think it was mainly my head that made it so. Need to find a way to get past the negatives between my own ears. They are very destructive.

Stay safe and run long lovelies x

Kerry

Well done!! You're dead right about this now being a mental game from this point on. Your head will get with the programme if you ignore it enough tho.

Keep on truckin' and mind those pesky laces :-)

Hey Dudders61. Well done you. W5r3 done this morning. You are right it is a mental barrier we must overcome. I noticed before I went for the run I was fiddling around with the laces on my shoes and then strangely there was something inside each so I had to take them both off and adjust. This hasn't happened before, I think it was my mind doing delaying tackticks. I finally got out and smashed it (well didn't find it to bad). Felt so good at the end. Big smile on my face today.

Bring on w6. We are going to do this. P x
