At about 3 minutes in I saw a dog walker with about 5 dogs. Worse nightmare of a runner I guess. Didn't even have to worry about the big dogs knocking my already struggling self over. The smallest dog which was about the size of a cat came for me with its overly excited self. On any other day I would've stopped and stroked it but today I'm a woman on a mission. Almost fell over trying not to step on it and that was my start of my swearing fit. I managed to keep running but my pace was messed up for another minute or so.
Safe to say that the 1st 10 minutes or so was a killer. The rest was a blur. I manged a extended 1st lap of this field and almost 3 quaters round the 2nd time in my 25 minutes. Happy about that considering a few short weeks ago I couldn't manage 1 lap never mind almost 2.
3.45km covered in total for the full 25 minutes. Not really bothered about the distance but I like to keep track to see if I improve over the weeks. So this is a great opportunity seeing as I have this exact run to do another 3 times.
Well done Donna, glad you didn't trip over that excited dog!
Yes, plenty of chance to perfect this run as you ease into these longer runs and start to feel the difference. Start nice and steady and your breathing will relax after the first 5 to 8 minutes...You are doing brilliantly 😊x
That dog didn't even realise that it was playing with death. If I had stepped on it, it's life would've been over. If I had fell, probably would've ended up with an injury. So we both had a lucky escape.
The 1st 10 minutes or so are always the most uncomfortable for me but I guess that's the toxic 10 as they call it.
Loving the longer runs though.
Hey nice progress Donna, great to see you getting back into it so well. I know what you mean about the dogs though, when I run along my canal towpath route, I usually have 4 or 5 dogwalkers + various quantities of dogs to contend with, not to mention cyclists!! Well done you I believe you can do it!

I love animals and I'd be the 1st defend one but when running it really is a hazard, especially when they're off their lead. But we all have to share I guess.
Thank you for your words. I believe I can do it this time aswell. 😊
Well done. This is why I have been running along a main road when I have a canal towpath nearby - the pavement is usually empty (except on bin day and near bus stops!)
I've done a few runs in the past on the road but because of old basketball injuries to the knees, I tend to stick to the local playing field. Less stress on the old knees. I do enjoy the road running though, especially at night.
Brilliant Donna your doing great keep it up your on my tail ...Well done 😊😊
Brilliant! W6 is tough. Well done for getting through it. All on the home straight now. You can join Sallenson & me running round M&S shouting "we're runners you know!"

Thank you. And I've already beat you to it. I've certainly bought all their running clothing if nothing else. Told the cashier how I run etc etc. Lol 😂😂😂

😂I think I'm driving everyone mad going on abt running. I'll turn into that woman everyone avoids coz all she can talk abt is running! 😉
I haven’t been on here as much and I blame the pesky migraines.... Well done Donna go you Week 6 done and dusted what great progress. The dogs on my runs, invariably bark to men me leap in the air, so I’m always a bit wary, but you seem to ahi your ‘dog strategy’ sorted. Cracking stuff

Oh no! I can totally sympathise with the migraines. Mine have only stopped coz I'm on beta blockers but I still get a headache after every run. Hope you are still managing to run.

I wish you better. I don't suffer from migraines but I do suffer with vertigo. So I kinda understand how you must be feeling. When a episode hits me,I'm crippled for days if I don't take my medication quick enough.

It’s a bummer isn’t it, I never ever had migraines until about a year ago and wow they floor you. I recognise the ‘crippled’ feeling I have nuclear grade migraine medicine to take, which works fine if I do it early enough. If I miss that window then last week - a 3 day migraine followed - oh deep joy. If your vertigo does similar to you, then I sympathise greatly. But brilliant to see our progress again W7 , that’s fantastic.

Yep same thing here. If I feel a episode coming on and I don't get that medication in my system within an hour, I'm in problems. Worse episode I had lasted 3 weeks. 3 long weeks. Actually ended me up in hospital. Now I go no where and I mean no where without my tablets.

Blimey, that is serious and I understand why you carry the meds at all times. It must also always be in the back of your mind too. So an even bigger well done, getting through the W6 hurdles..
Many, many congratulations on your run and your progress through the program. I love dogs but I do believe owners should keep them on leads when walking. Not everyone is comfortable around an excited dog. I couldn’t blame a dog for doing what comes naturally. It’s all on the owner. Well done for not having an accident.
Thank you. I don't blame the little dog either and I agree with you regarding keeping them on a lead. Especially when in a public place.
