After an aborted attempt yesterday evening, defeated by heat, I managed the 25 minute run today.
I have had some setbacks with a chest infection and The Great Snot in the last four weeks, a legacy of suppressed immune system following sepsis, so went back a week to Week 5 and have now managed to complete Week 6. 3.45 miles in 34.17 at 10.17 mins per miles.
I had presumed that my head encased a brilliant brain, with a fantastic memory and stuffed to the gunnels with logical reasoning, but in fact, all it contains is a Giant Snot Factory. Running and breathing at the same time has proved difficult, but as it has started to recede - I got going again. Apparently the Germans sort out The Great Snot by squirting sea-water up their noses, so I went the Germanic way, and had some slight relief.
I have found though that if I do manage to go for a run, or a very brisk walk, that I do get relief from The Great Snot for an hour or so.
So Week 7 now looms, and looming even larger is a non-stop 85 mile walking race in three weeks - being attempted without the usual 500 miles training I normally do. It could all end in disaster - or Snot.
