Went out for the final run in week 6, 25 mins straight running, I felt good after 25mins and decided to push myself a little further, anyway I managed to run a full 5k in 32mins. Ive always wanted to be a runner but never thought I could do it but thanks to this plan I did it!! so happy!

So you are doing C25K..........but you are not doing C25K.

The plan is gently progressive for a reason. Of course many people have enough basic fitness to exceed the recommended runs, but the big question is whether that is wise or not.

Congratulations on your achievement, but by exceeding the plan you increase your injury risk. This was written healthunlocked.com/couchto5... to try to explain the reasoning behind the slow and steady approach of C25K. Please read it and also read the posts linked to at the end, submitted by runners who thought they knew better than the devisors of the programme.

Take care.

Wow! well done.

However, I pushed beyond (to 8 minutes) on week 3 and then regretted it because the next time I could only manage to do what the plan said and I felt disappointed and somehow felt I’d taken a backward step. So by the time the plan asked me to do 8 minutes I felt very little sense of achievement because I’d already done it! So I’ve never strayed from the plan since then.

However, I’d say that you must be pretty fit to have wanted to continue after 25 minutes. (I did the same run tonight) (knackered!) and so you’re pretty much there....and....you’re definitely a runner!!!

Well done. 👍🏼

Thank you!

I actually pushed myself on a few of the weeks just because I felt I could and even when i finished my 5k I felt as if I could of gone on but didn't want to over do it, But I know what your saying about feeling disappointed. My goal when I started this was to run 5k without stopping, so in my eyes Ive accomplished my goal.

Well Done to you too! your doing great, keep it up.

You certainly have reached your goal and a bit early too. 👍🏼 I’m getting on a bit so I’ll carry on taking it slow and steady but I’m not far off my 30 minutes now. 😊

It is best to stick to the plan... running muscles need time to build and often, despite how we feel.. there can be issues.. slow and steady is the only way:)
