At last. Week 5 Run 3.

Success but not quite sure how.

This should have been done last weekend but I got dragged to parkrun on the Saturday morning so didn't do Run 3. Then I had a slump and just refused to go out on Tuesday... Then Thu we had Storm Doris and her winds on Blackpool Promenade gave me, I believed,a good excuse again to not go out.

So today I decided I would try as I was only volunteering at parkrun and not taking part (although parkrun was cancelled due to "a police incident in the park" - don't ask, I don't know)

The day went on and I knew it would need to be dark before I could ventured out. So Piplet was heading out for a meal so I lifted her into town then planned to change and honour..

Stanley G nearly distracted me tho... When I got in Mr Pip offered me some scrambled eggs on toast .. well - food thoughts put the run right out of my mind and I enthusiastically accepted... Only a few mins later to suddenly remember that I'm supposed to he running and therefore did not want food... Stanley chipped in and nearly made me choose the eggs...But I realised I would be disappointed in myself if I did not run so Iovercame and managed to stop the scrambled egg production for me.

So out I went, straight into puddles of standing water. So feet wet, off I went, Stanley mocking and asking me if I could get past 5 mins.

"Sure I can Stanley, I did x2 8-minute blocks last time"

"So you can manage 8 mins then?"

"Yes Stanley,I might just about manage 10"

"Ha you reckon?"

"Well I'm gonna try to get to a bit more, maybe even 15 if I go slowly..."

"Nope Pip, you can't do it"

"I will Stanley...And if I can make it to 15 there's a fair chance I can struggle on for a final five"

You'll quit at 15 mins

"Yes you might be right Stanley...I don't think I can manage 20..."

- So 15 mins came and on I plodded, ever slowly ever tiring....

"Stanley..."

"What"

"I've got 1 minute left Stanley...I'm gonna make it!"

"Pfft"

So with help from Stanley I did it......

Looking forward to Week 6 now. Thanks for all the encouragement to give it a go...You all help.

Thank you. I can actually barely believe I did it... And as a reward Mr Pip cracked open a couple of eggs and I got my scrambled eggs after all 😁😁😁

Well done - I did the same this morning in the teeth of a very strong gusty wind along the south coast - such joy when i turned and the wind was behind me. Keep it up! And I agree - I prefer running before eating!!!

Well done! Remember the feeling - if only we could bottle it, we would make a fortune. :)

This is a real achivement week - and you achived it. Brilliant. A word of warning, though, watch out for week 6. In the rosy glow of having run 20 mins, W6R1 often trips people up. Trust Laura, though. She really does know what she's doing. Let us know how you get on.

Thank you. Week 6 looks ok to start with...I'll probs do it on Tuesday...So that's a decent break from Sat night. Yes I have cautioned myself not to get over confident though as I realised I was feeling a little cocky having done that last 20 minute run. To be honest I can hardly believe I managed that.
