Caught some sort of horrible cough/cold/no-voice/snot-fest of a virus from my students and it's lingering horribly. Did week 9 run 1 with it and felt quite a lot better for running, then tried to do run 2 yesterday. Worst run ever. I got 15 minutes in and went from feeling great to feeling dreadful (shaky, weak, nose running like a tap, shivery, ill) in what felt like 3 seconds. Had to stop, and then was doubly annoyed because I also had to walk 3k home, slowly, feeling like rubbish.
Have decided this means I probably need an Actual Rest, but I feel really fed up (and antsy from not running). Anybody got any advice about resting, and starting to run again once I feel better?

What a time to get a virus! You must be gutted. I had a bit if a sire throat last week and r3 of w7 was hard work. I still feel it's lingering but it doesn't seem to be having any negative effect now.
I think you're right, the only option is rest and hope it doesn't linger too long. Good luck and hope you recover sooner rather than later.
Just tuck up warm, take paracetamol and drink lots of water. You won't end up back at square one if your rest up properly, honestly! I had 2weeks on the injury couch with a chest infection immediately after I graduated but was still able to run when I was well enough. Just take it easy and don't try anything at all until you're completely well again. Good luck
