Newby coming to end of wk1

Hi I've just started the C25K, currently doing Slimming World and want to get fitter as my husband and daughter are extremely active. Downloaded the app which is great bit disappointed in Sarah Milligan thought she'd have a few one liners to keep me amused. I've done 2 runs so far should have done my 3rd yesterday but couldn't fit it in. If I go this morning is it too soon to start W2R1 tomorrow night?

Well done!!! I'm doing run 1 on week 6! I remember week 1 thinking I was never going to get this far and it's been really good!! I think as long as you take it at your pace and remember the good feeling at the end of each run you'll enjoy the process.

Good luck!! X

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

If you read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... it lays out the advised approach, which is that you have a rest day between runs. While you may get away with it in the early weeks, building the habit of rest days will serve you well. Unlike many other pastimes, the impact of running actually causes damage to your muscles, in the form of micro tears. These repair and strengthen on your rest days, not while running.

The run will still be there in another day's time and you will become a better runner by cross training on your rest days than running too frequently.

Enjoy your journey.

Good luck on your running and sliming journey...I’ve only just started so can’t offer any advice on running.

Well done on c25k. It is recommended to have a rest day to allow muscle repair. It's very tempting to run the next day especially if there is no aches and pains but there is a risk of developing an accumulated injury. It's frustrating but it's worth it. I'm am waiting until tomorrow to do w3r1 this running is a bit buzzy inducing even when slogging at the time. Keep it up

Well done Lynnie! I’ve wanted to go out the next day too, but I’m a newbie so not sure. I do a bit of exercise at home on in-between days. Hopefully the guide will help.

thanks everyone. tgink I'll run this evening rest tomorrow like you say the runs will still be there and I don't want to cause myself damage and end up stopping altogether. 😊
