End of week 8!

Can't beleive that I've got this far! just 3 runs left! I have decided that I need to have at least 2 rest days between runs as my ankle is beginning to hurt between runs! If I give it a good rest for a couple of days it seems to be ok. But starts to twinge again after my next run. Maybe it's time to invest in better running shoes or get my gait analysed? Still I've cracked week 8 thrilled to say the least!

Well done. Home straight in sight.

Achey ankles may well be to do with shoes. I would recommend a gait analysis and follow the advice regarding appropriate shoes for you. Hopefully it will transform your running and i would not recommend going much further if your shoes are not proper running shoes.

They are proper running shoes. I learnt my lesson last year when I tried to do this and invested in a pair- not the most expensive but proper runners. Not sure if it's them or the way I'm running- hoping to get to the end now it's so close without having to stop for too long

Picking the correct and appropriate running shoes for your style and gait of running is an absolute nightmare, unless you have a gait analysis done and follow the advice of the (hopefully) experts. It really can make all the difference and the shoes that you selected may actually be doing you harm.

Thanks for the advice. I'm planning to go to the local running shop as soon as I can. Think I may hold off my next run until I have. Don't want to do any damage now as I've come so far.

I've taken his advice... have to keep remembering the run will still be there when I'm ready to go again.

Nearly there!! Now is definitely the time to invest in some proper running shoes - they are the most expensive thing you will buy, but oh so important in order to help avoid injury. Get those shoes - then go for week 9!!

An early birthday pressie sounds ideal!! :D

Well done you only 3 to go. Hope you get the shoes sorted, so you're no longer aching.

Thanks. It's all feeling much better but got to get the shoes sorted. Looking forward to my last 3 runs and the beginning of a new running chapter!

I'm in exactly the same boat. Had gait analysis this pm and running in new shoes (albeit on treadmill) sorted the problem immediately.
