Hi everyone. I am 62, never run before in my life and I am overweight. I did day 1 yesterday and found it very very difficult to run/jog. Is it better to persevere with the running or to do a v fast walk instead?

Hi & welcome. You could do a pre W1 (W0??😃) eg doing every other 1min run with brisk walks in between. I did that when I was starting again after having pneumonia & found it helpful. Also go super slow on the running sections - just a light jog at walking pace. Read the pinned post for new starters for essential information. Good luck! 😄
I'm very new to this too but the biggest hurdle for me has been accepting that you have to go really slowly and that there is no such thing as too slow. I was reading the advice but still not realising that I could go even slower. So one day when I started feeling I couldn't go any slower I told myself to slow down, then slow down again and I ran for 3 mins. Good luck - you can do it!
In the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... it explains about your easy conversational pace, at which you can jog and simultaneously talk in an ungasping manner..........that is the speed you should be going. If you cannot manage this, then doing some brisk walking for a few weeks before you start the plan may be a good idea. Again, in the guide there is a link to the Active10 walking programme.
Stick with it. You have so much to gain.
