Oh no 50 and starting to run

Folks I was 50 last October and have decided to try this. I can’t run... well up until now if you have seen me run you would have needed to have run yourself as you would have been be pretty certain something awfully scary was chasing me.... I am hopeful, determined, sceptical, giving it a go

Go for it Dora! You're a spring chicken. Get your trainers on before you hit early middle age and prepare to astonish yourself!!

Don’t be sceptical. I’m almost 2 years older, well overweight and just reached 28 minute runs. Never run before, no exercise in 20+ years. You can do this.

That’s quite near Edale.

(Derbyshire joke, sorry!)

Jay is a lovely guy and he's absolutely right!

Stick with the programme. Don't push yourself too hard. It's never easy but it's doable. The thing that shines out on the forum is the massive increase in confidence that everyone gets.

We're all winners here, even at W1R1 x

You can do it! I’m a 47-year-old non-runner who managed 27 mins this morning...! I had never run, not even at school If I could help it before 8 weeks ago - stick to the programme, get some nice bouncy trainers and you’ll get there !

Hello Dora, welcome to C25K. Don’t worry I reached 60 last October and started the programme in March having never run . I graduated this week running 30 minutes. You won’t think this is possible for you at the moment. I know I didn’t. I said I would just do enough to get my heart beating faster. But you are about to start an incredible journey and as long as you follow the programme you will be transformed into a runner. I say enjoy, but I didn’t enjoy the actual running until the last week. What I did enjoy was the satisfaction of completing this run and the support and friendship on this forum. You’ve done the hardest but which is starting it. 👏

Hi and welcome. Believe me, if I can do it, you can. I turned 55 today and did w5r2 this morning. Not done any running since school.

Had very achy knees for a couple of weeks but now am much better. I take an extra day of rest if I feel I need to.

As everyone says take it steady and you will be ok. 😊
