Morning all, complete newbie here. Just completed my first week. W1R3 in the bag. To be honest half way through it I was knackered today.
First outing using Strava app. Pretty cool seeing the route map and data.
Don’t really get what pace is though.... It says I did average 13:17/mi. What does this mean and relate to? Is it 13mph? It can’t be!?? No idea. I did 2 miles in 28mins. Is this ok? What are my goals to aim for as the weeks go by.
Hope you all have a good weekend. I must cut the grass later! Cheers all.
Welcome to the programme, and congratulations on getting off the couch. Great feeling isn’t it?
I’m no expert, but pace seems to be how long it took you to run a certain distance, usually 1km or 1 mile. Although I think imperial units are great for everything, for a plan called couch to 5k, I switched my running app to km just to make it easier. For example if you run 5km in 30 minutes, divide 30 by 5 and you get your pace which would be 6:00/km. or you could just run and not worry about pace till you graduate To manage expectations, only a small percentage of people are running at that pace when they graduate.

Thanks Neil, top tip to switch units. Will do. Wiped me out today but will keep on to W2. Cheers.

Week 1 is tough, going from little or no exercise to being active for half an hour. Completing week 1 is one of the hardest things I believe. One of the most important things I learned, and am still learning, is that if you feel tired, slow down, but don’t stop. Completing the run is way better than stopping early, certainly mentally. Remember the unofficial C25K mantra:slow and steady!!
