Well that's week 1 done!

Well i I am still on my rerun of c25k and on we go. Yesterday I did run 3 of week 1, taking 10 days to complete the first week rather than the 7 days it took me when I first did it in 2019. That's ok. I enjoyed it and when I look back at the notes I made when I did it last time (nerd, me? Oh yes) I can see that I'm so much more confident. I spent a lot of time in the early stages on the first time round wondering why I was even trying! Now I know that I love running and that I will get back to it and that's why I'm here. I'm finding the gentle progress and the structured programme a really reassuring way to come back after an illness break. I feel in safe hands! So on we go. I'm also trying to do more strength stuff. I did my Pilates class yesterday and I'm trying to do two more S&F sessions. Thanks so much for the suggestions on here. The 15 minute one from runners' world is hitting the spot! Nice and short and doable!

Seems odd that this time last year I did 10k and right now that is like a dream but when I get back to running for half an hour I will begin to believe I can do it again.

I am a first timer, it has taken me 10 months to get to week 7. 10 days to week one is nothing. compared to my fumbles and false starts to get the runs under my belt. Even though I'm missing the deadlines I'm getting fitter and feeling better.

I understand that it is not a 9 week course and it is not to 5k. But you've a 10k run in the bank so my running looks a little pal in comparison.

I'm taking the weekend off, did my first 25 minute run yesterday. i might do week 7 in 7 days though

Twenty five minutes is quite an achievement! When I did it last time it took me about 6 months after finishing to do 5k and I was so slow that was completely the limit of my ambition. I've only done 10k four times in five years and again I was so slow there were only a couple of people behind me. I don't think I'll go there again but I would like to get back to being able to do 5k eventually. I think you hit the nail on the head about the important thing being getting fitter and feeling better. I'm doing this for me, for my health, to be able to do the things I want to do with my children and grandchildren. It's not a race. It's a way of living as well and fully as I can. Best of luck as you carry on! You are doing something wonderful!

Good point and I reflect that sentiment back to you. I wrote myself a message about running something along the lines of it's not a questions of getting C25k it done it's changing to something I just do.

Well done for getting back out there!

Please would you post a link to the 15 minute S&F routine from runners world you are finding helpful? It sounds like just what I’m looking for 😊

Well done for coming back and I love the 'nerd' fact that you have notes from your first time around.

Keep us posted on Week 2!!
