Welcome and worry not.

Are you one of those apparently common individuals who can do a brisk walk without expending any effort?

No, I thought not. So you have just run for sixteen minutes, with a five minute brisk walk interval in the middle..........total twenty one minutes..........W5R3 is twenty minutes.

Look at the total time of the workout, not just the individual running intervals and the whole thing suddenly looks very different. Go slow and believe in yourself and you will do this, as the programme has prepared you for it, just as it did with every other run in every other week.

The guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

If you still don't believe just browse through the posts to see all those who had the same doubts as you who went on to complete the run.

Enjoy your journey. Practice grinning.

You have to trust the C25K plan - I'm proof it works! It builds you up so you are ready for the next run and you will be able to do 20 minutes. You ran for 16 minutes last time so it's not so much more. Just believe in yourself, think how far you've come already (bet you didn't think you'd be able to 8 minutes when you were doing 1 minute) and take it steady and you'll be fine. Good luck!

The app says 20 mins no walking though?

Yep! You’re switching 6 mins of walking for 5 mins of running. Don’t worry. It’s very doable. Slow and steady in the first 10 at least and save some beans for the last 5. You will surprise yourself! This place is full of ‘I don’t think I can...I bloody did it!’ Stories for w5r3. Prepare to be very chuffed with yourself!

20 minutes between warm up and cooldown...........you have already done 21 minutes!!

Yes, no walking. It does sound a big jump from W2, but it definitely worked for me - and I'm no athlete, always last or thereabouts in school running races and never run since until I started C25K in February. If you've done the rest of the programme up to now, you're ready for the next run and you'll feel great afterwards when you've done it. Have faith!!!

Go for it, you can do it. If you read through the posts you can see that many of us doubted that we could run for 20 mins but we did it. Just go at a slow steady pace and believe in yourself. The C25K plan works. Just make sure the last bit is not uphill! Do post how you got on, the support for each other keeps us all going in times of doubt. You might even enjoy it.

I felt exactly the same this time last week , it makes no sense at all , but it really works! I have never ever run before this, not even for a bus. Today, thanks to this amazing program I ran 27 minutes. Still hugely overweight, still can’t believe the miracle that is happening. Try not to think of how long before you head out, just follow the instructions and believe that it is actually possible. Let us know how you get on.

I did my week 5 run 2 today also. I was worrying about my 20 minute run as well. But reading the advice in the replies make sense. I have been doing a lot of the running on the treadmill but it's so much nicer to run outside and the time seems to go quicker as well. Rest day for me tomorrow and will tackle the 20 minute run in Friday.

You’ll do it! I actually found the 10 minute run less difficult than the 3 minute runs back in week ?3 or 4. This community is great......we all support each other!!!!

Yeh that was a real step up! I didn’t think I could do it but I did! The start of week 6 isn’t too bad but run 3 is a 25 minute run. I started running in the evenings which has helped. You’ll be fine. I shuffle jog so just take your time. Good luck! 😄
