Just going to complete week 5, ran for 2x 8 mins, next run is 20 mins then back down to 5,8,5 mins seems a big jump!
Week 5: Just going to complete week 5, ran for... - Couch to 5K
Week 5
There is no big jump........it is the shortest workout since W3.
This explains it all healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
You can do this.
Thank you, just need to look at it in a different way. Think its more mental than physical to be honest. Thanks again for support
It's definitely more mental than physical. But everything's my you've done up to now means you definitely have the fitness to do it - you just need to believe that!
I'm also on w5 and like you I've been thinking about run 3 all week, having some doubts that I could double the running time without any walking breaks.
I've just come back from run 3 this morning .... and it was actually easier than I thought it would be !
If it's any help, I chose to do a really familiar route and did it just using a stopwatch as I didn't want to be reminded how much time was remaining too early on ! Settled in to my usual pace and focused on the breathing and footfall.
Great sense of achievement to look forward to when you finish it - I feel now that I am going to be able to complete the full program
I completed W5R3 yesterday. You are right it is a mental challenge. You are ready for this run, trust in the programme, you can do it. You'll feel amazing when you do. Just go for it. Good luck 👍
I felt exactly the same but you will surprise yourself when you do it.
I completed this yesterday after a nervous build up. It was physically absolutely fine but mentally hard. Keep it slow, focus on breathing, look around and enjoy the run. The first 5 minutes are the worst. After that I felt I had put all my negative demons to rest. You can do this!
I did that run today and although I have done the c25k before, I was still apprehensive. First time I did the programme I repeated week 5. Managed to do it properly today. Mental attitude is definitely the key. The first ten minutes were the hardest for me. Had to do a mental push at that point. About 15 mins in didn't feel that bad although I'd be lying if I said I wasnt delighted to hear the end of the run message. The bonus is knowing you can run that long. It's a great boost. Good luck on your run!
