Today was the 5k event that I signed up for before starting c25k, which I did with 11 weeks to train! I’m currently in week 7 and planned to do my week 7 run and then run/walk intervals to the end.
Well - I was able to run the whole thing, and in just over 36 mins!! Whaaaat?! I ran with friends, beside one of them who seemed well matched to me in pace... except this pace was faster than my usual. The crowd, having a running buddy and the energy of the event carried me along, and I just kept my legs going... there wasn’t the usual battle between brain and legs, a fleeting moment and that’s all.
I honestly can’t believe it. I was emotional this morning about if I was going to crack 40 mins or not and how hard this journey has been at times.. but it all melted away as we got going. My hubby also ran the last leg of the marathon relay and it was inspirational to see some of the marathoners along the route and at the finish line.
Thank you to everyone here who has helped keep me going!! For those just starting their journey - you can do this!!
I have my first medal! 🏅 I am a runner again, 8 years and two kids later. Good way to spend the morning of Mother’s Day!

I love love love this post - reminds me of the feeling I had the first time I completed a park run without taking a walk break. Massive praise for you! xx
