Gutted!! 😥

Gutted that I have injured my ankle 😥. Finished Week 3 yesterday and by late evening my inner ankle bone started feeling very tender. This morning my ankle had become swollen 😥. It’s not really painful, more sore/tender. So that’s it!! My C25K programme has ended before it really started. I can’t tell you how upset I am. I got divorced recently and I have two beautiful daughters whom I adore, but any single parent will know how bloody tough it is. Running was a little bit of ‘me time’, where I could clear my head of the stress of the last few months. But even that has been taken away from me. I wish everyone luck with their journey’s. I’m sure you’ll all smash it! Bye 👋

Hey hon! Really sorry to hear your news. But take it from me - you WILL be back!! Promise us and more importantly promise yourself. Please? You'll get the ankle fixed and then get back into the saddle. Not the end, just a an intermission. I'll bring the ice creams okay?

Thank you 😊 I want to, I really do. I was looking forward to each run so much (sad I know lol!). It’s horrible knowing all I can do is rest! Maybe it’s wrong shoes or maybe I pushed too hard in the first few runs (I doubt that very much as ‘snail’ comes to mind!)..we’ll see what the next week or two brings 🤞🏻

Occasionally you see a post on here and you just want to reach out and give someone an Olympic hug. Have the biggest hug okay? I can't imagine the stress you're under, but you need the "me time" to keep you sane and to help your girls.. And you've got friends here that you haven't yet met okay? How proud will your girls be when Mummy's a runner?

Thanks for the hug 🤗 and for the lovely words. My girls will certainly be proud of me when I complete the Bath Half in March 2019 lol - I WILL get there!! 😂😂

That’s not an end it’s just a delay.

I had a couple of weeks off for various reasons. Let’s the swelling go down then perhaps go to a proper running shop to check you are wearing the best shoes then get back on it

I will certainly do that. I didn’t think it made much of a difference in the first couple of weeks but maybe it does?! I’m hoping it’s just a case of wrong shoes 🤞🏻

Take a break and come back stronger.

I hurt my ankle too at the same stage as you. I ran W4 R1 and now I've not run for a week. The swelling has gone down and I'm certainly walking better. Just give it time and continue when you feel ready. Good luck.

So sorry to hear that.

As others have said , try not worry, give it time, and you will be back soon.

You will surprise yourself when you return.

Meantime take care of you .🌟👏👏

Opportunity also to use your non running time on catching up with recommended doable exercises as recommended on the links, and thinking about stuff you may add to your preparation when you return.

Try and keep yourself ticking over with light appropriate stuff that will keep you moderately tuned. All movement is good.

Also retains your ME time in your routine.🤔🌟👏👏

I am sorry to hear that, but don't give up! Many of us was on IC running or not-running related. I started my journey with running over a year ago, but due to bad luck I haven't finished yet. I am now on my 4th week on IC (probably the first running related injury), and I know I will be back starting all over again (although I was at the end of week 7), because running is my me time and because it releases the stress.

So please, heal your foot and come back to us / to running. Or even better stay with us through the tough period of being on IC and as soon as your doctor allow it, start running again ;)

Lots of love!

Sorry to hear you too are injured 🤕. Running is a great stress-reliever, isn’t it? 👍. Hopefully you’ll be back running again soon 🙏

Hopefully both of us will be running again soon ;) And we will be out there as soon as our injuries heal fully, not to have any chronic problems ;)

In the meantime maybe try to find some "me time" by going out like you did for running and just sitting on a bench with a book or doing some strengthening exercises of upper body? With the same time limit or something like that?

🤞🏻. What a great idea!! I will definitely do that. And I need to work on my upper body strength so what a good way to spend the time whilst on the IC 👍. All the best for your recovery. Thank you 😊

Rest and Ice then you’ll be back! I’m slowly finding my way back after a spell on the IC, it is frustrating but essential to take it easy. The runs will always be there when you’re ready 🤗 x

So true! Very wise words!

RICE - Rest Ice Compression Elevation

Heals most of small common injuries :)

Absolutely right!! I just need my head to comply with the rest bit of it! 😬🤣

Oh no. So sorry to hear that. Hope it heals soon. I have weak ankles so I do my runs slow and on flattish grounds.

Don’t give up!. So you injured your ankle?. Get it seen to and let it get better then carry on.

Just because you picked up an injury doesn’t mean you have jack it in completely !

Thanks to everyone for taking time to reply. I have to apologise! Last night I was on a downer after an unpleasant ‘discussion’ with a certain male!! I was feeling emotional and a little angry that my running has to stop for a while. I WILL be back on the plan when my ankle is better. And I look forward to the day I can put my running shoes back on 😊. Happy running everyone - and for everyone else accompanying me on the IC, heal soon..
