W7R1 - harder!

So following a 25 minute run with a day off and then another 25 minute run is pretty hard work for an unfit bloke!

First 5 I was back to my bellows impression. Either side of the 5 minute mark I was thinking “I can’t do this; this is the day I fall off the running wagon”.

I focussed in on the music and whilst I was aware of where I was in my run due to the geography, I’d stopped thinking about running and was just doing it.

The half way came later along the road than I expected but somehow unexpectedly soon as well, if that makes sense. I was clearly (and unintentionally) going a bit faster than W6R3, hence the wobble earlier on.

I turned at the bell. Sometimes I’ve been thinking “no, not all of that again”. (Yes, I have those feelings too. I just don’t always admit it!) This time it was “I know I can run what I’ve just run again”.

Second half no dramas apart from the app giving me a reminder to bring my shoes and my headphones slipping. Five minutes to go and I was surprised how fast it had come.

Last minute and I know I can do the rest of this week and do the 28 and 30 minute runs in the next fortnight Given the backache I suffered last time, no sprint finish.

All in all another good run. I’m more tired than last time - 1 day gap rather than 2 and slightly faster - and the high hasn’t yet hit me.

Good luck everyone starting W7 this week. And I hope everyone enjoys their next run x

Good job tiger! You're nearly 70% of the way through now. Way to go!!

Ooh that sounds nice. And I’ve gone from 1 minute runs to 25. 24 down, only 5 more to go!

U superstar you!! You should be feeling dead proud of yourself!

I am. Door widening might be needed to get my head between rooms!

And the shopping opportunities beckoning when all your trousers are too loose around the waist!! And more running gear!!

Not lost any belly inches yet. My own fault. Addressing my diet is phase 2.

I've dropped a couple of pounds each week so far. And can't do the programme and worry about diet at the same time (too complicated for my tiny brain) , so not stressing unduly. I'm loving the fact that you're so obviously enjoying this malarky - keeps us laggards motivated!!

Ta! It’s really motivating when I’m dying on my feet minutes 3-8 thinking “how am I going to explain stopping on the forum”. Of course I could lie, but I’d know.

Amazing well done. I’m just about to start week six.

Enjoy it. Beware the speed on the first two days - it looks easier than W5R3 but it isn’t!

Yep agree with Jay!

Just checked my times. I was slightly faster at 2k and 3k (which are wholly running) but my splits were identical to the second. I’m quite chuffed with that as there is a climb and descent both ways but I am keeping an even pace.

Brilliant Jay! I’m enjoying getting into a pace and sticking to it without being interrupted by walking intervals. Still find the 1st 5 minutes and last 60 seconds the longest! 7/2 tomorrow and actually looking forward to it. 😊x

Yay! Glad to hear it. Good luck tomorrow.

(Wind back 7 weeks and I would never have thought I’d enjoy running - I was doing it very grudgingly to get my fitness back. Now the first thing I do when I get back is put my gear on a quick wash so it is ready for next time!)

I know! I started 4th April and now look at us ‘runners’! We are doing soooo well. x

Week 7 was my favourite. Like you I realised that I would be able to get to the end. I ditched the podcast then too and just timed my running so I could start listening to audiobooks. That made the time go faster and meant I could focus on a good story.

I think you have turned the corner and the podium is coming into sight. Well done 👍

Thanks for such encouragement. I knew I could do this (eventually) but I didn’t expect to enjoy it too!

Smashing it. Going a long way to losing the ‘unfit’ tag 💥 🏃‍♂️

Sadly I’m not - too much comfort eating and beer. But I’m getting cracking calf muscles!

The only eating disorder I admit to is occasionally missing my mouth....

Well done! I think calming down & not thinking about it too much really helps. You say you are unfit but look how long you are running for now from when you started. You are a super trooper now! You got this.
