Carrying water???

Hi all,

I'm on the mend after my op and been back on the treadmill a couple of times!

So now I'm thinking of taking this running idea outside!!!! I've signed up to park run which I will do in a couple of weeks I think.

So question I now have is how do you carry your water (if you do)?? My bottle I use at the gym is quite big and chunky so i know i'll end up dropping it!!

Cheers

Unless it is really warm and you are running long distances, I don't think you need water. Just make sure you are well hydrated all of the time.

Running out doors is a joyous experience. Enjoy!

Glad you are on the mend

There is advice on this in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

For any run under about an hour's duration, you do not need to carry water if you are well hydrated beforehand, unless it is extremely hot or you have specific health conditions.

For the first few weeks I took a half-full bottle out with me. I got it at decathlon and it is kind of squashed narrower one way than the other. And they sell a rubber strap that hooks around the bottle body and up to the top, so you slip your fingers between the bottle and rubber strap.

But this was entirely a comfort blanket and not needed (as Ian explains).

Ok I have to have water, I have a condition that requires it. I've also graduated already so I knows this!

Just wanted to know if anyone had found an easy way to carry it.

Oh- that wasn't clear! I have a flip belt and it came with a teeny bottle (but probably too small to be much use for you) I think you could probably squish a flat shaped bottle into it though.

I have to have water too because of a medical condition. I always run in the gym because I can't run outside in any kind of hot weather. So I'm no expert at all but I've seen a lot of road runners carrying those bottles - I'm not sure what they're called so forgive me but they've got a hole in the middle so that you can hold it both sides - easy to just put your hand through & hold I woul've thought. Sorry if that's not that clear - as I said I'm no expert!

Hi - try googling 'bottle belt' - there are lots of options out there. I don't carry water on shorter runs but for my longer runs I have a belt which has a pocket and can carry up to two small plastic bottles (which come with the belt). You can also get holders with just one larger bottle if you prefer. Good luck.🙂
