Managed to complete first run of week 3 last night and totally astounded myself!! Mainly thanks to the excellent advice and support of this group.
Can anyone tell me when or if I should try to increase my speed? I currently stick to a slow jog as advised but feel other runners I see out and about are going a faster pace?
Feeling very chuffed so far!! π

I also am on W3, I did R2 this morning, very slowly but I did it. Donβt worry about other runners, they could have been running for years or even training for a marathon. Go at your own pace and enjoy. Well done π
I almost completed this programme last year. Only had 3 runs to go and due to sickness and a hurt back had to take 5 months off.
I'm running again now and I'm at the same Week and Run as you.
My advice to you would be to try and ignore everyone else you see out there. We're newbies to this and for all we know other people passing us by could've been running for years.
I know it's hard but as the weeks go by you will actually not worry about other people.
Also as the weeks go by, you will naturally start to run faster as you get fitter and fitter. It just seems to happen naturally and without much effort. You may not be much faster but probably faster than when you started in week one.
In the mean time, do you. Work with what is comfortable for you and speed is something you can progress with down the line.
Stay slow.. and enjoy.... time for speed may follow..or not. Each run make us stronger and after C25K... the more running you do.. the more likely you will speed up naturally...
I occasionally get overtaken by speedsters.. streamlined and sassy... but I happen to know I have just finished a 5, 6 or even a 10 K across the fields....whilst they just do 1K round the block
Well done and rightly feeling chuffed! I'm trying really hard at the moment to ignore distance and pace and cadence. For me it's all about duration and going slow enough to stop myself collapsing in a damp heap. I'm relying on building up stamina and hoping that pace and distance will follow naturally. And once I've done the first run of a week then I've already cracked the mental barrier which is incredibly liberating. Take R2 as slow as you like cos you've already nailed the week!!
