Hi everyone. I'm on run 1 week 3 and everything was going fine. I had a bit of calf pain in week 1 but sorted that with some stretching exercises. Now I'm having pain in the soles of my feet at the heel. I've tried using a foot roller and this helps but it's still painful. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, does it get better?
Foot pain: Hi everyone. I'm on run 1 week 3 and... - Couch to 5K
Foot pain
Yes I had ankle and foot pain near the end of week 3 run 1. The pain persisted go today so I've been to a running shop, had a gait analysis and been fitted with a pair of running shoes after almost an hour of trying on shoes and being told 'no, they aren't right for your feet'! Will try them out tonight, but they certainly feel as though they are really supporting my feet so fingers crossed!
Thanks. Let me know how you get on.
Last night's run went well - it definitely feels different running in proper running shoes rather than my old trainers! I have different aches today which I think might be different muscles working with my feet now in a slightly different position. Hopefully I'll get used to the new shoes soon.... I was fitted with New Balance 860v8 shoes which were over £100 so a bit of a dent to the bank balance once I'd recovered from the shock (!), but hopefully no more ankle pain (or further injury).
I'm going to do the same. My plan is to go after work and get sorted with some decent running shoes. I really don't want to spend a fortune because I'm not a serious runner, but I am really enjoying the C25K program. However if it helps with the pain I'm prepared to pay it.
In my case it was the Achilles. Mind you, that was in my case and although the symptoms are very similar the causes could be different. Mine was treated by a physio. Rest up and monitor what happens, avoid running through pain and painkillers. If it persist seek pro help. Don't worry, it's all fixable.
Your shoes have been supplied by gait analysis guys?
Hi - I had this in week 6 - mine was Achilles Tendon. The advice was to stop running and get it checked out - it maybe different for you - symptoms are also similar for plantar fascia (think that’s how you spell it). For me it was years of not being very active and then starting to exercise a few times a week.
I had to have physio and do lots of exercises to build the strength and flexibility. It’s taken months and I’ve just restarted the C25k program.
Hope you get it sorted.
