I’m W1R2 so at the very beginning of this journey. I have never ran and I always said I would never run willingly but surprisingly I’m really enjoying this! The only problem is - after the last run, I had such bad pain under my left foot! A few time’s I actually squealed with the pain when I stood up! It’s eased up now but I’m panicking about it happening again after tomorrow’s run. My husband seemed to think it was because I was in the wrong trainers so I’ve invested in some proper running trainers now so I’m hoping this solves it but anyone with any advice - I’d be so grateful 😊

Pain under foot

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Good shoes fitted after a gait analysis can make all the difference.
Enjoy your journey.

If it happens regularly, it might be worth investigating with your GP (if you can get to see one). It might be plantar fasciitis.

It sounds as if it might be plantar fasciitis? If so it’s useful to get advice and treatment

New shoes might help, but go slow and take it easy. This program is not a race; first it is to get you to run 30 mins non stop. After that to get you to run on a regular basis and to build your body into a super you.
As you dont say exactly were the pain is it could be one of a number of problems.
Best to see your doctor first for advice if it persists.
Know expensive but an osteopath is the best for finding out exactly what wrong. GP a good start - however when my pain got so bad I was hopping, after bisit to osteo found out plantar fasciitis- and exercises he showed me worked like a miracle. Plus - always need proper shoes for your gait - and everyone different. I also have fallen arches so need orthotics. I am running now but very mindful.of what I need to.do to so it is not impossible. Good luck - ask around for recommended osteo or if a gait clinic nearby but do.go.for professional advice if happens again.

Thanks everyone!! I’m just finished my run and although I can feel a little niggle in my arch - I think the trainers may have done the trick - fingers crossed!! I’m hoping it is just that because I’m really enjoying this program - I’m definitely taking it slow though 😊

I had instep pain week 9 run 2 back in April. I managed to see a podiatrist. He gave me exercises and recommend trainers with mid support. Once I'd bought new trainers the podiatrist put some extra little supports under the insole. My trainers are so comfy and I can really feel the support. Good luck. Don't ignore the pain
