W6 trouser issues!

Here's a little tip - when you're just beginning to feel a tiny bit more confident, do not go out in two new items of running gear! W6 R1 saw me staggering along holding up some new capri pants with one hand and holding a new set of headphones in with my other - it was very far from elegant! W6R2 saw me back in old full length overly warm and loose yoga trousers and despite the fact that I'd only had one rest day, I found the two x 10 minute runs OK. Faintly dreading R3 tomorrow and wondering about whether to have a 2nd rest day but trying to remember that I felt the same about W5R3 and actually it wasn't so bad....

Anyone else have problems with their leggings? I've been holding off wearing lycra as a bit self conscious but was getting so hot in my looser yoga trousers....

I was actually looking for running shorts last week, but that was last week! 😅

M&S Lycra leggings even make me feel alright in them although I have to admit today was a baggy top day 😀to cover my bum

Lol, I even went out in my lycra shorts today as they have a neat side pocket for my phone, a waist pocket for keys and an emergency fiver and I didn’t want to go back to using a running belt. It was very cold but comfortable. I now use a bluetooth earphone to avoid dangling headphones but I have to remember to charge it. The thing to remember about clothing is comfort, not looks. No one is looking or judging how you look - they are too busy eating your dust, or working out if they can go fast enough to overtake you. Enjoy the next run and think about how hot you might be on the longer runs.

Ha ha I love the idea that someone might be eating my dust! In my dreams.......

Hi Jules , thanks for excellent advice about clothing .... it's a minefield 😆 Can I ask which b'tooth earphones you're using only I'm now on my 2nd set with endless charging/pairing issues. They were cheap off Amazon 😳 is it a case of get what you pay for mebbe?

Good luck with your runs!! 🏃🏼‍♀️👍🏼👣

Love my Bluetooth earphones & they work even better if you put them on the right way round!!!! Note to self:wear glasses when faffing to get ready for a run 🤓

Thanks Bells ... I'll have a look. I need the music to power my legs, although today felt like zero power somehow ..! 😫🐌

We'll get there eventually !!

Mine are treblab- also from amazon. I've had to fiddle around with the size of the foamy bits to get them to stay put but they're great otherwise and no problem with pairing - in fact I have to remember to turn them off otherwise my phone continually wants to stay connected no matter where they are in the house. I couldn't work out why I was having silent phone calls.........

Hey A, thank you for the info, I'm looking them up now. The problem for me is the pairing, which seems to be no problem at all for you ha! I'm not techy so will need to find a small child to help get me sync'd up 😅

Good luck with the runs this week, I think we're at around the same stage of W6 but the weather forecast (in London) is soooo bad ☔️😭

If the trouser problem was due to no internal drawcord: if you can bear to put a small hole in the inside waistband you could thread a bootlaces or something similar through to create a drawstring - I've done that on a couple of pairs. The cheap ones I left the hole as icut and there's been no fraying or degradation and the more expensive ones I hand stitched around the edge using buttonhole stitch aka blanket stitch and they have stayed ok too.

Make the leap to lycra. Although saying that mine tend to sit below my muffin top however often I pull them up so a long top is a must 😂

Sometimes the draw cord is hard to see...., do a double check incase you have one you havnt noticed.

I will take a closer look - clearly I’m not the only one to experience droopy drawers!

Mine have an inner cord, I hope I need it one day.

We’re at the same stage. I have 2 rest days in between runs, I’m also dreading r3! Go for the Lycra, it’s bad enough running 25 mins without the worry of keeping your trousers up!! Good luck tomorrow, let us know how you get on

Just looked at the weather forecast - I’m on the east coast and we’re in for torrential rain and 40mph winds. If I run tomorrow I don’t think it’ll just be my Lycra to worry about - I’ll probably end up in the North Sea! Think I’ll take a second rest day. Good luck with r3.

I have M&S most basic active leggings (it think they were about £16 but well worth it!)

They sit high on my waist with an elastic band and are pretty form fitted but fairly flattering (as far as active leggings can be!) I don't have any issues with them falling down and am really pleased with them so far.

Perhaps a higher waist is the way to go? Works well for me because it supports my more wobbly bits 😂😂 xx

I am looking these up right now - thanks for the tip. Don't know why I didn't think about M&S...... and my wobbly bits need all the help they can get.

Ps. The sizingis generous and they are really very stretchy so don't be tempted to err on the side of caution size-wise xx

If it helps, they are called

'M&S Collection Active Cotton Rich Leggings'

And they are black with red piping. They also have a cropped version but i have found that they sre really lightweight and cool so actually the longer ones have been a good choice for the unpredictable weather... coverage when needed but cool enough when warmer.

Hope you find something that works for you xx
