I feel my shins hurting are a much bigger challenge than the actual run. Much to my surprise it's not insurmountable to run for 90 seconds from a heart and lung perspective but my shins aren't feeling great. Is it because I am too heavy???

I get shin pain too, so I googled exercises for shin splints. It came up with YouTube videos on how to stretch them and it really Helped me 😁 x x
Great, Thank you

I haven't had shin pain but I did have pain in my calves which has eased with stretching exercises after tonight's run...

Congratulations on reaching the end of the week!
Sorry, I can't help from personal experience. I just try to ensure that I stretch sufficiently afterwards and I'm planning on buying a foam roller tomorrow.

Search this forum, there are plenty of posts with links to exercises to prevent and to help alleviate shin splints

Gait analysis and running trainers really helped us. The aches and pains went when we bought them

Hi 3550TN....I'm a newbie runner..really bad pain in shins last run. Great advice on here took me to research shin splints and obviously my form was off....by a country mile🤣 I'm gonna do the stretches, get a roller.......and try and take all the advice on running gait.....good luck to you! 😁
I did the same! So will stretch and not run on tarmac until am lighter and have built up some muscle strength. I find that relaxing whilst I run also helps.

Hmm....went for r2 tonight..did all the stretches I could before I went, ran on the grass instead of path....really tried to correct my form.....thought I was okay until I walked across the road coming home.....oh God the hurts!!
Might need a bit of a rethink......🤔🤔
I am doing the same, it isn’t perfect but I hope I am building up strength. And i run slowly. So slowly 😂
