Hi there

On Tuesday I had a heart attack and now have a stent. Can I run 5k in the future? Berry

We're all different, but, more than likely, yes. I, too, have a stent (and an ICD) and one of my worries was about being able to get back to exercising. I used to run 100k a week. Three months on, I have been building up the amount I exercise, and I now go to the gym six days a week, and I am doing resistance, cardio and treadmill running.

See if you have cardiac rehab in your area as the support and advice they offer is wonderful.

Good luck!

That is one for your health professionals. However, and no medical training here, once back to better health you should be fine as this programme is done at a very slow pace i.e you can walk faster than the running pace required to do this.

First get the all clear and go from there. Very best wishes for your return to health.

Get the all clear from your Heart support team experts...before you begin anything.. Runs will still be there... they always are:)

I agree after a shock like that you need to take expert advice. I have found that all the health care providers I have talked to about getting back to exercise are well informed and give the advice directly needed for just you. I am sure they will help you get to a point where you can start.

I’d say so. Your health team will want to get you back to fitness so make sure to ask them . It’s an nhs programme so,they should be able to tell you

Good luck 👍😃
