Congratulations Jo0267 on starting C25K and welcome to the forum, I am sure you will enjoy your runs for the next 9 weeks but remember that you can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to.

Hi jo0267

really well done for starting this programme - it’s a difficult business dealing with fear and vulnerability. I have had type1 diabetes for 34 years and have struggled with both those things for much of that time.

I’ve also just finished the Couchto5k programme. One of the things that worked for me was just trusting the process; one day on, one day off helped enormously; as did the feeling that I was taking steps to take some control of my health. At some stages I felt like I needed to repeat a week - if life got in the way and I missed a few days, or sometimes if a run felt really difficult I would wait 2days before running again. There were times when I wanted to give up and burn all running gear but now, much to my amazement running is becoming a habit and time set aside specifically for me.

So, the very best of luck for the future - one foot in front of the other! - this forum is also a big help if you need to vent, or ask for advice or need some encouragement. You can do it!!

Huge well done you... and welcome to this great plan.

It is structured and if taken slow and steady you will get to Week 9 safely and having had fun.

I know you will have got the all clear from your medics.... so, please do read the attached post. There is so, so much information there.

This is not a weight loss programme...but linked with a healthy eating regime... it is a win-win situation. Take a peek also at our sister site..Weight Loss NHS? Many friends on here are on that site also:)

All you need to do now is run.. we shall be here to support you every step of the way!

Well done on taking back control of your future. This programme is fantastic and teaches you more than just how to run; if you follow it to the letter. One of the hardest steps is doing as you're told and holding back when it starts to become easier and enthusiasm takes over.

Enjoy it! 👍😁

It’s such an amazing journey - you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve. The most important thing is just to do it and trust it. The trick for me was learning that my brisk walk could be faster than my run. Then around W6 someone posted the Japanese slow jogging movement video (you can find it on youtube), it’s a low impact slow running technique that might really suit you? It turned things round for me and I still run this way. All the benefits but much lower risk of injury. Another important thing is so stay hydrated on rest days and run days (you won’t need water while running at these durations) but otherwise you can get very heavy jelly legs! Best of luck!
