5 minute run is hard. I can do the 2 lots of 3 minutes but I am giving up after 4 minutes when attempting the 5 minute jog. However my walking pace is very similar to my jogging pace. The question is do I redo week 4 until I can do 2 lots of 5 minutes jog or just keep going with week 5.
week 4: 5 minute run is hard. I can do the... - Couch to 5K
week 4
I'm sure someone will be along to tell you exactly the right thing to do. But in my opinion, you should repeat until you can do the run. You'll get it! I had to slow down to slower than my walking pace to get some of the runs. So slow down even more if you need to. Good luck!
Yes I’d repeat until you can do it. It will be a quick fix i reckon. Slow down if possible.
You do need to complete each run, before moving on. Each run builds on the next run... and if you are struggling there is no point in moving on.
So...Begin Week 4.... take it as slow as you like...relax and land gently... shake out your shoulders and relax your hands.
Trust the plan, and believe you can do it
You are building your body to carry out a series of physical challenges. There is no point moving forward in the process if you have not completed a workout. It is not a check box exercise, but a training plan.
Have you read the guide to the plan? healthunlocked.com/couchto5... it is full of tips.
You say you are giving up but not why. If you are exhausted, you are going too fast. It is probably all in your head. Running is a vastly mental challenge, so you have to overcome this block.
You can do it.
Are you going too fast?
I know you say your jogging pace is slow, but believe me, there is always slower!
Or are you just convinced that you can't?
Are you listening to anything, music or any podcasts?, they can be a great distraction from the demons telling you that today is not the day .
I would say don't move onto the next week, but do this again, nice and slow, and distract yourself about the time.
You will get there.😊
Thank you all for your support. I went out on Friday and managed the 5 minutes. It is in the mind, I could do it, I just had to keep going the run also included a tiny slope which before `i would have walked up. An extra bit of motivation was that my daughter was on week 5 so if she can do it so can i. Now to week 5!
