After my dramatic melt down at end of week 4, I can't thank you all enough for picking me up and dusting me off ..because it worked I got out there and completed Week 5 R1, on these moors behind the farm. I feel ecstatic and it feels great. Would you believe at the end of my last 5 minute run today I came across our neighbouring farmer and his dog going about his sheep .. of course I got in first and said 'Don't Laugh' He just smiled ear to ear and said 'no I take my hat off to you' ..lol ..and he did bow his cap. We did my cool down walk together and I explained that I was going to complete a 5K race for life in July and I was 'in training'. At that he welled up as his sister,(and my good friend) is struggling with her treatment. When we got back to the farm drive he said "eeee lass" (we are up north, think Catherine Cookson territory) .."im proud of you and don't tell anyone I bubbled (cried)" "of course not" I said ..if you don't tell anyone Im running"
Wk5 R1 and Thank you : After my dramatic melt... - Couch to 5K
Wk5 R1 and Thank you
Awe that’s so nice! Bless him!
Where are you? I’m in Middlesbrough. We should do coffee!
We must do coffee notice neither of us are saying we must meet for a run 😂 😂 I am on the Durham/ Northumberland border. X
I am so pleased you got your Mojo back! I was thinking of you and checked first thing this morning to see if you’d posted. What a beautiful part of the world to be in. I spent a lot of my childhood on the North York’s moors and although not quite your location that scenery looks so familiar. Fond memories of Boro too Tasha99 - I was at Teesside Poly back in the day! What an uplifting meeting with your neighbour. Keep going - if it were too easily done we wouldn’t value it as much. Xx
Thank you ..mojo is definitely back on track. It is beautiful and the meeting with my neighbour just made the whole thing more special
Hey, I’m in the NE too - a little north of Tasha! I also wondered if your lovely photo was the North York Moors. Today’s run sounds a special one to remember- very moving ladyruns, (sorry can’t do the old - you’re younger than me!) Enjoy your next run. 😀
What a lovely post - sounds like you've got your mojo back. And how brilliant to hear that from your neighbour. You definitely should feel proud of yourself. 👍🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
I have thank you. So much of achieving this is about where your head is, you read it and see it on here but until it happens you don’t realise the highs and lows that will pop up out of the blue ..certainly is a wonderful journey
Wow! Great scenery, great dedication, great run. Enjoy the rest of Wk5 - it's amazing!
Well done! I envy your landscape (but probably not any hills) - although I’m on the edge of the Peak District I’m running though an urban environment. Once I’ve graduated I’ll go find some prettier places to run.
Check us lot, all reaching the middle of the programme!!
Lovely post - made me well up. Well done on your progress
That is so lovely!
You have shared secrets that will make you both smile when your paths cross. Well done; you really are smashing it, oldladyruns👍🏽👏🏽
My students laugh at me because I have a very young handsome picture of Sir Isaac Newton on my science lab wall .. I call him my pinup ..with the quote "standing on the shoulders of giants" ..now when I see that I think of all you graduates and think Im running in the shoes of giants .. you have all literally paved the way with your help, advice and support before us ..thank you x
Lovely photo and post! Super read on a sunny Sunday morning. 👍👍👍
That’s fab. I think melt downs are par for this course 🏃 what a lovely man your neighbour is. I just finished w5r3. I had to give myself a talking to when she said. ‘That’s 5 minutes’. What ??? I thought it was at least half way. See you next week. Good luck 😉
Oh, this is so heartwarming. 😀 Glad you got your mojo, back! The ecstatic ones are so worth the odd meh! run. And you know, we all have meh! runs now and then. Good work! x
I've had four days off as bit nervous about starting week 3 but your post has inspired me and I'll be back out there tomorrow evening
Makes it all worthwhile doesn’t it 😊😊😊 you’re doing great 👍 keep🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️Xx
It certainly does, Im starting to really appreciate the runs that go very well because of the not so good ones
Great post, looks like a lovely part of the world. Glad you are feeling positive again 🏃♀️😊
Me too 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️ At least it’s reassuring to know that we’re all the same 😉 🤪🏃♀️🏃♀️
Oh, that's lovely So glad you got your mojo back and you are out there again. I did one of my hardest runs ever yesterday but because I know that some are better than others I just walked when I had to, stopped to take a couple of photos and crawled over the finish line in what would have been a disgraceful time to some. But you said it - the people before me (and still around me) gave me advice and wisdom, and this is my run. It was a good day. May you have many, many happy runs
That's such a special moment you shared, well done you I just did my first run this morning and I was really surprised at how emotional it was at the end for me too. I still keep welling up, though it feels odd to me! Keep at it, you seem to be doing a great job of it Happy running!
Amazing well done 💪looks a beautiful place, I've been in the Peak District today and certainly blows the cobwebs away. Wish I'd met a lovely cap doffing farmer 🚜
What a beautiful shared moment and what great encouragement to keep running. You did absolutely great!!
Having run it last night I agreed with you that W4R3 is a Toughie as I also now doubting if I am capable of W5R1 . . . . but if you can do it up those hills, I've got to at least try as I've got it comparatively easy in flatter than flat Lincolnshire
Keep leading us on!! Proud of you too x x
Go girl! I’ve just done WK5R1 too 💪🏃♀️We can do this 💪
