What is Your Week? April 4

Sometimes it feels like the runs are a bit of a challenge, a real uphill climb.... but, the days are brightening and the weather, for some of us, is improving. It is great to see so many of us out there and just enjoying ourselves at all levels. Really good also, to see all the support between the forum friends :)

Welcome to the fourth week of the April, What is your Week?

The idea of, "What is your Week" ?

Every week we are going to put up a post, so you can add in a little post underneath, to say what week you are planning to do this week.

Sample post (feel free to put as much or as little as you like):

“Hi, I'm Oldfloss, and this week, I am doing the dreaded, week 5 run 3... help!, any tips guys? ”

We are growing so much at the moment and we wanted to have a little fun post ,so we can see who is on what week of the programme, and hopefully it will help everyone to feel more included on the forum.

Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine; it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.

At the end of the month there will be a Certificate for you to download and keep; just a little memento of the fact you have completed a whole month of the program. Another full month of running for you.

If you have just graduated, this will be a great place to keep you motivated, there is always the Quest on the Bridge to 10k forum as well, for Graduates.

I will add all the names from this week under this post. Every week for the month of April, the names will roll over into another post.

Let's get a good list going so we can support each other.

(Come on you lurkers, you can do it as well. ?)

Great idea.💡 I just finished week 1 on Thursday and loved the fact that I am actually running! Unfortunately I’ve sprained my ankle so will be out of the game for about a week 🤦🏻‍♀️sooo upset. I’ll probably start back at the beginning again so good to know it doesn’t matter.

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to Roxy33

Oh no! That is horrid... rest up, and some gentle movement to keep it from stiffening... the runs and us will still be here:)

I’m W6R2 here! 😁 if you had told me a few months ago, that I would be getting up early on a Sunday morning so I could go for a run, I would have laughed, a lot! 🤣 but I love it! Keep up the fab work everyone! Xx

Tee hee.. you just run and enjoy :) I was standing at the bottom after my run :)

Hi! This is a great idea, what supportive community 😀

I’m about to start week 2. I’m really enjoying it so far and even surprised myself by doing a run whilst on holiday. I was wondering what time of the day everyone prefers running? I ran when I woke up today and i felt more energised 💪🏼 Good luck with the week ahead all.

I'm a morning runner too Jo. I haven't got the energy or the motivation later in the day! Well done running on holiday!

Oldfloss profile image

Very well done you... morning time... superb, preferably before anyone is about..just you and the world...perfect!

Hi everyone

Completed the dreaded Week 5 run 3 on Friday. Found it ok and more mental than physical as Laura says. Starting Week 6 tomorrow!!

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to NicolaD

Just a run... :) Well done you... slow and steady into the next runs.. different but doable:)

I completed my first post graduation run today, did 30 minutes with MJ (just repeated week9 R1) he isn’t getting rid of me just yet, I’m sure at some point I will have to be brave and run without him, but not yet! I went further and faster today, than last Thursday (graduation day), it wasn’t any easier but equally wasn’t any harder. I guess forwards is the best way to go!

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to Madsimmo

Yep well done you and forward is always a good plan.. although... I have tried running backwards :)

I'm starting W3 tomorrow. I might have to repeat one run of W2 but will see how it goes. If using the app, how do you repeat a run without erasing the logged runs so far?

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to Nat26

Well done... Not sure on that one.. but I think someone may be able to help.. I will try and find out:)

Starting week 4 tomorrow. Really looking forward to it in a masochistic kinda way!! :-)

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to pianoteacher

Slow steady and enjoy it:) Should I be saying that... ?:)

Just finished W2 today. I'm due to start W3 on Tuesday- with some trepidation but I'm looking forward to challenging myself.

I am still in week 4, up next is w4r3. Got a cold last week, managed one run before it moved into my chest. Not sure how much longer I can give it before I head out for a run anyway - the sun is finally shining and we are into double digit temperatures!! If I can’t run this week I’ll definitely be doing some trail walking to keep myself moving.

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to Amandana

If it moves from your chest head out for a jogette. Otherwise a brisk walk 😉

Hello I’m Jane and I’m starting W4 this week, completed W3 today and really enjoyed it! Lovely daughter age 14 accompanying mama which is wonderful. Knee playing up a bit annoyingly so taking it very gradual. Fingers (and knees!) crossed that it behaves itself for this week as I’m really wanting to keep running more than ever, it’s been an absolute revelation to me and I wish I’d been braver to try it years ago!!! By the way, this forum is good for the soul as well as good for everything else!

Happy running everyone! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🌟

I’m still on Week 7. Had my 17month old granddaughter for the weekend so did 8k walking with buggy on Saturday and Sunday but no running.

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to Renidragas

Well done... I average 10 miles each Tuesday and Wednesday with my granddaughter... 5 in the a.m. and 5 in the p.m.... easing off now she is walking... now I just chase her:)

It is a great work out though... well done you:)

Renidragas profile image
Renidragas in reply to Oldfloss

Thanks! She’s only been walking for 3 weeks so it’s slow progress and many diversions if I let her walk! Happy days though! 👶🏻😀

I will be doing week 1 run 3 tomorrow but I think I am going to repeat this week as I am not totally happy with moving on just yet. Managed run 2 yesterday at a slower pace than the first one and it felt much better.

Bought new shoes on Saturday and ended up with a blister yesterday :( I am hoping it was the socks and not the shoes as I cant take them back now. Have purchased new socks so will see how it goes tomorrow.

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to angdrumm

New socks will help... :) I hope it sorts..just keep it steady. Many folk wear the shoes in, inside before heading out..

angdrumm profile image
angdrumm in reply to Oldfloss

You would think that being 50+ I would learn wouldnt you about wearing them in inside first but do I......that would be a big fat no then LOL

Week5 run 3 for me on Thursday. Bit daunted but have managed so far...Good luck all.

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to 18Windmill

Just another run... slow and steady and relax into it... you are ready for it:)

Four weeks since graduation and I’ve been enjoying running 3x5K runs a week on relatively flat routes.

Last week though I planned some more undulating runs which I managed easier than I was expecting 😂.

Today I started Ju-Ju’s 10 is the magic number program with a cheeky little 2.5K run!!

Really enjoying this running malarkey!!!

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to

Go you... Ju's plan is brilliant.. I have done it twice:) Well done... enjoyment is the thing:)

Crittermad profile image

I’m doing week 3 this week. I need to learn some mind games to keep running as the runs get longer - before next week!

I spent the full 3 minutes thinking how far am I now, that’s got to be nearly 3 mins.... only for Sarah M to tell me there’s still a minute to go 😳

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to Crittermad

Just relax... slow and steady...think of other things. Make up names for stuff or people as you pass... make up silly rhymes in your head. You can do this...just believe it:)

SnuggleMonster profile image
SnuggleMonsterGraduate

My next run is w6r3. First one I'm feeling apprehensive about in a while. I am beginning to "come out" to friends about running, so maybe that's subconsciously putting extra pressure on...??

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to SnuggleMonster

I t could be..but use it as boost instead... their responses should reaffirm how brilliant you are!

Take these next long runs slowly and steadily as ever and just relax:) Let the legs begin to find their happy pace:)

Today was my first run after graduating and I was feeling very nervous about being able to do it but happy I did. Thanks Old Floss and Bluebirdrunner, from no longer a “grey ghost” 😁

After finding w6 r1&2 a bit tough I was worried about r3 but I've only gone and done it 😊 It really is all psychological, and I'm going to do my first parkrun this weekend which I'm now quite excited about
