What is your week? - Lets make hay in May- week 4

Hellooooo everybody and welcome to the fourth week of What is your week?

Everyone has their special place to run and mine is here at my mum's in Hayle.... its the best... This pic was taken when there wasn't a single person for miles....

So- the idea of, "What is your Week" ?

Every week I am going to put up a post, so you can add in a little post underneath, to say what week you are planning to do this week.

Sample post (feel free to put as much or as little as you like):

“Hi, I'm Ju-Ju, and this week, I am doing the dreaded, week 5 run 3... help!, any tips guys? ”

We are growing so much at the moment and we wanted to have a little fun post ,so we can see who is on what week of the programme, and hopefully it will help everyone to feel more included on the forum.

Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine; it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.

At the end of the month there will be a Certificate for you to download and keep; just a little memento of the fact you have completed a whole month of the program. Another full month of running for you.

If you have just graduated, this will be a great place to keep you motivated, there is always the Quest on the Bridge to 10k forum as well, for Graduates.

I will add all the names from this week under this post. Every week for the month of April, the names will roll over into another post.

Let's get a good list going so we can support each other.

(Come on you lurkers, you can do it as well. ?)

Happy Panthering,

Ju-Ju

Just had a great W9 R1 this morning! Changed my route so that I ended on a downhill stretch and it felt wonderful! Can’t believe I’m running 30 minutes. Loving it and can’t wait to get on that podium in a few days time!!

I love Hayle beach!!

Moving slowly towards graduation now. Week 8 run 2 tonight, then run 3 in the heat of Sunday! I really don't like the heat! By the end of next week hope to be just one run away from the final Run!! Excited!!

Only found last week's thread earlier this morning, so am a little bit earlier with joining this one!

Plans for this week are to complete week 8 (w8r2 tomorrow) and make a start on that final week...

...seems like only yesterday I was swearing at Jo Whiley and complaining that w1r1, and running for a whole minute, was way too difficult :)

W9 starts for me tomorrow morning. I know the extra couple of minutes will be tough but I’m up for it.

I’m on Week 5 now, got run 2 tomorrow then the dreaded 20 minute on Sunday - any advice?!

R3 is mind over matter. You can do it, you’ve done the work, just believe in yourself. W6r1 is a piece of cake after that, and you’ll never be phased by a run again! Good luck

Loving C25K. Finding Week 7 tough. Pretty uneventful, and just slogging it out. I look forward to every run just as soon as I complete the one before, and no matter how tough I've found it. That can't be normal...

Finished week 7 this morning. Been a mixed week, actually enjoying run 2 but battled with run 3 where the focus was very much on one foot in front of the other. I guess not all runs can feel good so will hope the next one falls back into place.

Got my final run of week 7 due bright and early on Sunday morning.

Been finding week 7 a little more challenging than previous weeks, but still loving that great feeling of achievement after completing each and every run and look forward to getting out there for the next one.

I measured distance for the first time this week and was pleasantly surprised to find that I was covering 4k during my 25 Minute runs. So I'm very chuffed with that, If anyone had told 46 days ago (when I struggled to do up my shoelaces!) that I would be doing this well, I would never have believed them.

Can't wait to get this last run of week 7 under my belt and move on to the next challenge.

Good luck to every single one of us out their, we're all doing fantastic whatever stage we're at and should all feel very proud.

in reply toAlanist

A few of us are also struggling with W7. Here's hoping W8 is better, which I'm assured it will be. Good luck to us all. Our final run of W7 tomorrow.

Completed W7R3 this morning. Hoping for a better W8 and despite this week being the struggle it has been, still looking forward to my next run and a fresh weeks challenge.

Just finished Wk7 R3 tonight. Like others here I have found this week particularly challenging. I hope Wk8 will be more enjoyable. Always worth going for a run with a positive mindset :)

Also completed W7R3 tonight. Changed the route as suggested in the podcast and it made all the difference. Mostly because I had to think about when to turn around as I didn't plan to return the exact route. Worked out very well. On to week 8 next. Haven't given it a lot of thought as I'm thinking it's only an extra few minutes... guess what's going to be my downfall!!!

Just done w6r2. It was hard work in high humidity by the canal, so not my fastest pace. Proud of myself for not giving in.😃

Hi there. I started w3 on Thursday and fairly sailed round then yesterday went out for r2 and could hardly move. No energy, no motivation even with Michael Johnson spurring me on. Is this normal?

I’m hoping tomorrow will be better otherwise I think I’m going to have to repeat the week which might not be a bad thing as w4 looks scary

Rua8 profile image
Rua8Graduate in reply toSongbird42

Totally normal to have a really rubbish run after a really good one, I had that last week. You don’t need to repeat the week just because of one less than fantastic run. You just keep on slogging through them, the good and the bad, and keep looking upwards and onwards to the next run. You can do it :)

Ran for two hours, this morning , on my long easy, no hills, Sunday morning long run.13.6km.Slow but a good workout.👍

Think I am going to stick with a 10PR distance plan to HM for next 10 weeks.

Hopefully my pace will improve with the speed and stamina runs also.

Take care of you.🌟👏👏

Hi Everyone,

I am Shweta. I have just completed W4R2. I am really dreading week 5. I don't think that I can run non-stop for 20 minutes. I am so scared to move forward. Any suggestions ?

Thanks.

Rua8 profile image
Rua8Graduate in reply toShwetaAmeta

Don’t worry, it is absolutely doable. Just take it easy and don’t go too fast. My advice is to go out with a positive attitude, you would be surprised how much that helps :)

ShwetaAmeta profile image

Sure.Will keep up the positive attitude..thanks :-)

ju-ju- profile image

We all felt like that, but you can do it. Trust the programme, go steady and perhaps do a there and back so it’s mentally better?

Busy week so I’m just catching up on posts now. I am on W2R2. Earlier in the program than most of you pros out there! All of your posts give me so much encouragement. Unlike you folks across the pond, Pennsylvania has been rainy, rainy, rainy. Since I am starting this whole get-in-shape/lose-my-muffin-middle/oh-you-think-you’re-going-to-run? business from ground zero, I am staying safely on the treadmill for my “runs.” Once I get stronger, I’ll venture forth into the light of day. 😄

I’ve been running on the treadmill up to week 9 run 2. Decided to try outdoor so I’ve gone back to week 4, it’s really hilly where I am , nothing flat so found it quite challenging. Glad I did it !!! So week 4 run 2 this weds. Onwards and upwards quite literally xx

Hi. I've just done W7R2. Did R1 on Sunday & really struggled. Found R2 marginally easier today. Weird how it goes like that. Sometimes you struggle to get out of bed & other days you feel like you can take on the world.

A little over 9 weeks due to taking a break after climbing a mountain but I’ve finally graduated! I wasn’t convinced so repeated week 9 twice just to be absolutely sure. I felt that every time I ‘failed’ and walked even a tiny bit, it meant the run didn’t count. Couldn’t be more wrong. Every run, part run, half run, semi run was adding miles to my running clock and making my stamina improve, my muscles stronger and my lungs healthier!

Anyway I’m now happy to say I finally believe I can run!!

Not up to 5km, I’m doing 4km in the 30mins but I’ve no doubt I’ll get there. Again, just the next psychological barrier to break down but I can do this!

Every time I’ve posted people have been really supportive, so thank you all!!

25mins. How did I do that?

Curlygurly2 profile image

I've taken a leaf out of the book of our very own panther, and I'm streaking - when I'm up for it. I'm finding running is helping with my fatigue, so I'm still sticking to the programme, but I'm popping in some other runs too. Yesterday I did week 6 run 3, the 25 minute one, today I'm going to try for a non stop 5 KM, haven't done that for ages and it'll be good to see what my time is, set a benchmark so to speak. Tomorrow I've planned to walk up to the hang gliding point, than run back via the road, a nice little 3.5 KM round trip with a glorious view from the top. After that a 2/1 Galloway run, and so on...I'm really enjoying getting out there everyday.

Hey there! I am going to be tackling week 4 starting on Tuesday! Not even looked at it properly yet 😁 but today I’ll be rearranging my playlist to suit the interval timings (approximately!). Favourites to date include ‘Flashdance’ for the warm up walk - especially the middle 8 with the synth drums - then, ‘I predict a riot’ (Keizer Chiefs), ‘Shake a tail feather (Ray Charles) ‘One step beyond’ (Madness), ‘Do you love me’ (The Contours) and ‘Happy’ (Pharelle Williams) for the running. I’m doing Park Run on Saturdays as part of my training but walking/jogging after the 30 minutes are up, as I feel able, until the finish. Thanks for all the advice and motivation - it’s a great forum 👏🏻👊😁
