Hi there and welcome to, What is your Week ? January (4)
Hopefully, lots of you will be joining in with this; it is a great support to everyone.
The idea of, "What is your Week" ?
Every week we are going to put up a post, so you can add in a little post underneath, to say what week you are planning to do this week.
Sample post (feel free to put as much or as little as you like)
“Hi I am Oldfloss, and this week, I am doing Week 1, and really looking forward to it.”
We are growing so much at the moment and Realfoodieclub wanted to have a little fun post ,so we can see who is on what week of the programme, and hopefully it will help everyone to feel more included on the forum.
It will help other runners to know they are not alone with their weeks, and help everyone feel supported.
Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine; it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.
At the end of the month there will be a Certificate for you to download and keep; just a little memento of the fact you have completed a whole month of the program. Another full month of running for you.
If you have just graduated, this will be a great place to keep you motivated, there is always the Quest on the Bridge to 10k forum as well for graduates.
I will add all the names from this week under this post. Every week for the month of January the names will roll over into another post.
Let's get a good list going so we can support each other.
(Come on you lurkers, you can do it as well. ?)
Wishing you all a happy healthy week.

The weather beat me last week... our back lanes have been like skating rinks. I managed 2 runs, but yesterday I didn’t make it out 😲 as it was sleeting and just foul outside. Normally the weather doesn’t bother me, but just lately it’s really taken its toll on me and stopped the enjoyment.
But hey!!! It’s the start of a new week and it’s a nice mild morning here today, thank goodness! Let’s hope the mild weather stays for a while?!
So, I need to get back to my commitment of 3 runs per week, with one being the Stamina podcast (35 mins).... and I’m off out in a mo...
Hope everyone has a good week running 🏃♀️🏃♀️ you are all amazing! 👍👍
Hello all, and happy running. I feel as if I am still thawing out from a run yesterday. Generally enjoying post-grad life though. Two treadmill runs to do in the week and then a long run on Sunday. Eyeing up a 7.5km that will involve passing by my house twice, so willing be calling upon the will power gods, especially if this miserable weather prevails. Any tips on water proofing welcome.
So pleased to have completed the first run of Week 4! Felt pretty comfortable except on the hills when my legs started to burn a bit! I'm guessing over time hills will feel easier? If anyone has any suggestions on strengthening leg muscles I'd really appreciate it?
Hi! Much milder here today! (Even put washing out!) I’m off work all week so that won’t get in way of my running! Hope to run with wee group this evening, swimming on Wednesday, run Thursday and maybe even do a Park Run on Saturday but I’m not sure yet! 😀
Hi! I graduated a few years ago and my running has become quite sporadic over the past year or so. Today I got off the couch and got back out there for Week 1. I have the soporific tones of Mr Johnson accompanying me. I quite miss Laura, but I like having my own music. Good to see some names around I remember.
Ran my first 10k today which was really tough. Going to go back to shorter distances for a little while and build back up to 10 again. I have already done the miles for my virtual race this month so going to ease off a little bit. I’ve a friend over from New York this weekend so there will be a lot of alcohol consumed so a rest will tie in nicely 😊
I'm just starting consolidation, which for me this morning meant running without Michael Johnson for the first time. I used Strava and ran just over 3.6km in 30mins. I'm thinking of repeating this on different routes on Wednesday and Saturday this week to see if I can increase my distance.
Hello! Starting week 8 tomorrow morning. Feeling comfortable about trying the extra three minutes but I’ve had some back issues flare up this week, so I might need a few more rest days. Will start and see how it feels. 🤞🏻
Took me a while to suss what IC was, doh! Sorry you’re laid up at the moment - frustrating! I’ve had lower back / upper bum issues(hard to describe w/o pointing!) for a while. Running seems to usually loosen it up a bit but I’m going to try a chiro to hopefully make it a bit better!
Hope you’re off the IC soon!! Thanks for the support 👊🏻 x
Completed run 2 tonight, dude those last five minutes went on forever!!! Glad I did it but after a relatively smooth Week 7 and an okay Week 8 start this one was surprisingly difficult. X
Hi, All, Up until this last week, we've had a lot of snow and I've been shoveling. Lately my knee and elbow have taken the hit, I think, so I have dialed back to walking daily for now--until I can coordinate better with what the weather delivers. I walk in my driveway, which is clear--but my street is icy, so I'm doing the best I can!
I'm so glad everyone's all posting! I'm glad because I have not run at all--and this morning we have a new dump of the white stuff.... All I've been doing all week is walking--just trying to stay fit till I can run again.... I hope I don't have trouble starting up again when the weather is more congenial.
Me too... I have not run for three weeks! reading folks' posts keep me sane..no snow here, so lots of walking You will be just fine when you get out there again
Reading posts here is the slender, tenuous thread for me to hang on to for dear life in order to re-enter the land of the runners when all is well here again.... THANK YOU for your challenge posts because I know I have to get going again when I can. This is only my first year running so I know how easy it would be to "forget" and fall off the bandwagon.
Oh, and Oldfloss, I just noticed your clever "Winter RUNderland!" Very clever! Enjoying it!!! (That's what it looks like here today--a new fresh dump!)
Whoop whoop! I’ve just completed W4R1 I had a massive Cheshire Cat grin on my face after the 1st 5 min run! Even more so in second 5 min run. Really feeling like I can do this now!
Hi I am BestKitten and did week 6 Run 1 this evening. Had to have a week off due to illness but really got to get focussed again as have a 10K in March. Whoop whoop
A wick top... leggings...a lightweight jacket for the colder weather, ( if running outside) hat, gloves and a buff if outside. Things do not have to cost the earth...most of my gear is sale stuff..( odd colours or last year's designs!
Thanks for the reply. With the legging and wick top, should I wear anything over that and use it as a base layer or as is? I’m going to go to my local running shop as they offer free gait analysis 😀
Hi there, my Parkrun buddy is off the IC so we are running this weekend. I thought I’d better do some prep and got to the gym for a 5k with no break.
Somebody told me that I should probably have the treadmill on a 1% incline as the ground outside wouldn’t be completely flat. (I’ve only done one parkrun just before graduation and I walked some of it). Naturally cautious I went for 0.5% thinking I’d up it during the run ......... or not!
When I staggered off the treadmill I noticed someone smiling at me and thinking I knew them I smiled back - her smile got wider. It was when I got into the changing room that I realised she was trying not to laugh. Tomato was not even close!! (I do have that skin type). I was still remarkably red when I got home 20 mins later - the husband was curious.
So for my two further runs this week I’m going to do a continuous 5k whilst trying to preserve my dignity. I’ll use the gradient function a bit further in to the run.
May well keep my head down at parkrun in case photos of a slow tomato get taken - it is not a good look!
Haha thanks @oldfloss. That’s good as I will be sporting it for a while 😁
Hi, I’m on week 4 and really happy that I managed to keep to the programme while on a weekend break in London. Two runs while there and run 3 tomorrow at home.
Hi. I'm from Toronto and just joined this forum a few days ago. I did Run1 of Week 6, yesterday. Rest day, today. It's taken me a lot longer than 6 weeks to get to this point so even though I only ~ technically ~ have 3 weeks left in the program, I suspect it'll take me longer than 3 more real-life weeks to get there but I am not ashamed of that fact. I'll take all the time my body (and mind) needs to reach "graduation" happy and injury-free.
I do all my running indoors on a treadmill. I run very, very, very slowly for now. There will come a day that I will work on my pace, but these days my end-goal is to run non-stop slowly and comfortably for 30 minutes.
Completed w8r3 this morning in the wind and rain Very excited to be starting my graduation week on Friday. I honestly had serious doubts about whether I could complete this when I started out, but they have all been firmly ushered out of the building now.
Had to take a break last week because of work, but got week 9 run 1 completed today. Can't believe it's just two more runs to go this week and then I graduate!
Thanks @Oldfloss Did week 9 run 2 this morning and ran 4.5km! Bit of a wind-assisted fluke tbh, but getting very excited about the final run of week 9 and graduating on Sunday.
took 3 days off because Little One vomiting and diarrhea but completed Wk6,R2 today. Felt great! I've begun this program many times, before, but this time I actually believe that I'll be able to graduate. It's a pleasant, foreign feeling to have faith in my athletic potential!
Thank you - what a kind comment! Yes, it's tough being a single mother and especially when Wee One is ill. However, I know it's good for my child to see his sole parent taking care of her health, and making her own body/ sanity a priority, now and then. It's important that he understand that self-care is not selfish.
Wildly excited to try run 3 of Week six, this weekend. I've tried C25K several times in the past, and the furthest I got was partway through Week seven, so I'm getting close to that. This time, I'm determined to not drop out but rather to ~ finally! ~ graduate, even if I have to repeat a few runs or even a few weeks. xox
With your strength and determination you will do this... your small one is so lucky and is, as he grows, going to realise what an awesome Mama he has :)x
I'm doing my 2nd run of week 4 today. Still on a high from completing R1 on Saturday. So chuffed to have managed a whole 5 minutes run, even if it was more of a shuffly jog! Really excited to see how far I can go. Can't believe I'm actually looking forward to exercising! 😀
Hi, I'm scotinexile. I managed my first run today after two weeks of being grounded due to rubbish weather. I enjoyed it in spite of the rain and wind. It's a little milder at present. I even saw my first primroses! Can't wait for spring.
Started week 7 yesterday. Not terribly hard but ~ as I've mentioned in many other posts ~ I'm slow. Goal is to get to graduation and then, carefully so as to not hurt myself, work on speed.
