Welcome to the second week of the April, What is your Week?
Sorry for the delay in posting... a touch of sunshine on Sunday went right to my head...
As you may see from the photograph....Normal Weather Service has been resumed
The idea of, "What is your Week" ?
Every week we are going to put up a post, so you can add in a little post underneath, to say what week you are planning to do this week.
Sample post (feel free to put as much or as little as you like):
“Hi, I'm Oldfloss, and this week, I am doing the dreaded week 5 run 3... help!, any tips guys? ”
We are growing so much at the moment and we wanted to have a little fun post ,so we can see who is on what week of the programme, and hopefully it will help everyone to feel more included on the forum.
Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine; it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.
At the end of the month there will be a Certificate for you to download and keep; just a little memento of the fact you have completed a whole month of the program. Another full month of running for you.
If you have just graduated, this will be a great place to keep you motivated, there is always the Quest on the Bridge to 10k forum as well for Graduates.
I will add all the names from this week under this post. Every week for the month of April, the names will roll over into another post.
Let's get a good list going so we can support each other.
(Come on you lurkers, you can do it as well. ?)

Hi I’m Nannalyn53 and only graduated in March. Been running 3 times a week since, mainly using Laura’s follow podcasts. The interval one was hard but I did it, and on Sunday decided it was time to face my foe: the incline. Despite living inCornwall I’d managed to do the C25k entirely on the flat. I used Map my run to measure my distance round the village, going up and down the (it has to be said) gentle inclines. After 33 mins I was a bit deflated to find I’d only done 3.57k!!!😢 However I’m determined to improve on this as prep for being able to do the local Park Run in June I hope. I’ve also registered for the 5k Race for Life in July. So I figure on using the podcasts on2 runs and mapping my distance once a week on a more up and downy one. Will be on holiday in Derbyshire next week - biiiig inclines! 😬
Been following you... you are doing brilliantly Derbyshire... my favourite, leave the housework, head out place... just down the road a bit from me Hills yes, but loads of trails to run
Hi Well done on keeping running three times a week since graduation! Where about in Derbyshire are you going to be? Yes it is a county of hills but there as Oldfloss says, there are trails as well if you know where to find them. Also some canals. I think Cromford Canal doesn't have too many locks so should be fairly flat. It runs along a valley bottom. Matlock has a nice park that is fairly flat, as does Bakewell. Tissington Trail might be fairly flat - google it to make sure. Good luck for your Park Run and Race for Life.
Thanks very much. I’m staying near Bakewell - mainly for walking with husband and dog. But I’m sure I’ll find somewhere and a few inclines will do me good!
RAIN? How about SNOW? We're supposed to get RAIN showers to bring May flowers--not SNOW showers! But I ran anyway -- the little flakes melting on my glasses....
I started the program in March and it was a slow start. But I'm feeling good now and I completed W3 R2 yesterday!
I'm in Sudbury Ontario Canada where winter is still in full swing with another dump of snow forecasted for the coming weekend... this is a late start to spring and everyone is fed up!! I'll keep an eye on the forecast and plan my runs around the worst of it.
Hi. I did W1R2 today. Felt a bit harder than R1. Really fed up that I've now got a headache. I had to give up running last year due to exercise induced migraines- I'm on beta-blockers & I was hoping it would stop - but it doesn't seem that it has. Mind u - it is only my second run. I guess I need to get used to it again. Just feeling a bit desondeent.
I can sympathise with you over the migraine as I too am on beta blockers for mine, although mine aren't exercise induced, just random. I recently began to suffer more frequently and more severe so they upped my dose and this seems to have helped. I have just done WK2 R1. I hope you manage to keep on with this, best wishes.
Thank you! Mine started off just being exercise induced & then got worse. I think it's coz I stopped exercising- but my GP advised me to. I'm determined to power through & get through this - we can do it - we got this. X
Thank you! Did W1R3 today. Unfortunately got a migraine when I came back! I'm currently spaced out on painkillers. It's wearing off now but it's very disheartening. I just keep hoping that eventually my body/brain (?!) will get used to it & they will stop. I know it's nothing sinister because I've had an MRI. Determined to power through this but it's hard. Hope your run goes Ok on Sunday. I'm really enjoying the running.
Hi, I've just started C25K and have completed 2 runs in week 1 so far. I normally struggle to stick with exercise as I don't see progression but I'm hoping with the clear progression each week and the support of this community that I found through the link in the app that this time I'll manage to stick with it
Your photo made me smile. I have passed walkers this last week with big puffa coats, hats, scarves, gloves etc. they look bemused when I am in the walking phase and shivering, in leggings and a long sleeved but thin running top. By the end of the run sweating buckets and any more clothing would see me overheated. The joys of middle agedness, no thermostat.
Just about getting back to normal from a rookie cold.🙈
3 minimum 5k runs per week, plus hill repeats, one lot, progression runs , one lot, and parkrun. That’s my running.
Did my first 6 hill repeats today, 2OOm long approx, enough of a gradient , so 6 times.
Woodland workout group, some Fartlek stuff and strength, one Session. Target, 3 gym all body strength sessions with 16 resistance m/cs, 20 reps per m/c.plus 40 - 60 min cardio.bike, C/T and rowing m/c, practise belly Breathing technique.I use Active 10 walking programme as an outside alternative on repair days.
On a good week 14 hours minimum. I just function better now if I keep moving.
Gardening season, hedge cutting etc, coming along soon.🤔🙈😂😂😂
Did week 4 run 2 today. Found it tough but survived. Am very achey tonight though. Haven't ever been a runner but am determined to get fitter and hopefully thinner 😉. On holiday on the West Coast of Ireland at the moment so quite windy... am hoping that next week back in sunny Manchester (well Stockport) it might not be as windy and hopefully might feel a tiny bit easier. Although am dreading week 5...
I only just graduated on Sunday but my weekly goals are running with my local running group on a Wednesday evening, joining the group tomorrow night 😊 everyone seems really friendly! Running my 1st park run on Saturday 😬 I’ll just go at my own pace and already preparing to walk the very steep hill!!! (Chance to have a breather) Then I’ll run one more day a week with a friend who has recently started running, she’s been quite poorly recently so I want to give her some morale support.
I am currently struggling with my relationship with running, because while I love to run I also love to lift weights, which is easier on my bad knee so I tend to favour the weights floor of the gym over the treadmill.
I’m just about to start week 7 tomorrow. I’ve been doing this on a treadmill and only twice a week, repeating weeks if I’m not confident It’s taking me 3 months to get to week 7 but who’s counting. This Saturday I’m trying my first outdoor run with my daughter as we are going to do race for life this July, so there’s a bit of work to do before then x
I'm on week 9. I've been on week 9 for three weeks now. I did the first two runs fine, but then a litter of puppies arrived. One of which has had to be bottle fed every 3 hours so I've not managed 3 runs in a week. Currently averaging 1 x 30 mins a week. But I'm hoping to crack it this week and finally graduate.
Hi i’m Claire and managed to get to week 5/6 twice and was defeated by the weather twice. Went back a week each time and started again. I had to admit defeat and started running on a treadmill at the gym but whilst I’m there I make the most of the facilities. But I’ve just done week 7 run 2 and am still loving it. Can’t wait for the weather to improve as I really do prefer running outside.
Hi, I'm due to run the third run of week 8 tomorrow and am actually enjoying my runs, even if they're not very fast. I'm looking forward to graduating next week and am eternally grateful for C25K and the forum which have made everything seem so do-able.
Hi. I’m on w9 this week (1 down and 2 to go). Very excited that graduation is in sight. Determined to finish by Sunday when we go off snowboarding (I’m hoping that as I’ve done C25K since I last boarded I will see a difference in my fitness).
I did week 3 run 1. Should have done it yesterday but had a migraine. Nearly said F*** it tonight but I think that would have been curtains on the running. Really happy I did it. I think I could have done the run again felt really comfortable today.
Hi, I started Couch to 5K in mid Jan (had to wait til after my birthday, ha!) and I’m on Week 6 Run 2 (aim to do it on Friday). I found it hard in the winter as it was too dark to run after work so I was only doing 1 or sometimes 2 runs at the weekend. Then the Beast from the East arrived twice so that set me back. However, I was finding it all fine until I got to Week 5 run 3 which was the first one I failed to complete at the first go. It seemed such a step up from 8 minutes to 20!! Anyway, the plan is to reach 5k and then start Park Run. Here’s hoping!
I did week 3 run 2 today and quite simply keep surprising myself, quite honestly, I didn’t think I would make this far but I’m loving it. Taking each run one at a time
I'll be on the IC for the rest of April so stuck at W3. Doing my physio exercises to strengthen muscles I didn't know I had & started X training & exercise bike too. Planing to keep to 3x week training so I keep up the habit of it. Feeling much fitter already, even walked for 8 miles yesterday on my rest day!
Well done you.... I used my cross trainer after injury... you will be amazed when you get out again... Heal well and you will be back before we know it
I'm on W5R3 tomorrow. My gast is still flabbered that Ive made it this far without keeling over, AND I'm enjoying it! Other than the fact that due to being a bit of an emotional type, every time Sarah Millican praises me, I get a bit teary eyed....
A tiny bit daunted about the whole 20 minute thing, but I'm pretty sure I can do it.
Ha ha I have Michael Johnson! I sometimes feel he’s patronising me when he praises me for a 5 minute run! It didn’t help that I hadn’t checked the run programme for W5R3 until I actually started it...I’m a bit more prepared this week! Let me know how you get on-good luck!!
I'm on week 10 (week 1 post grad) My first day running in warm sun! It was really beautiful out.
Today was my middle run of the three and my middle runs usually are more challenging, like I'm still recovering from my awesome first run. I took it slower, knowing I could do the 30 minutes if I paced it right and didn't worry about how far I made it. I'm just happy to be keeping this up. Running is such a routine now. I just go do it without a second thought.
Hello , a lurker here, thought it was time I wrote to say this forum is wonderful, so many inspiring people and their stories. You guys rock! I started mid January and did Week 8 run 1 yesterday, can’t wait for tomorrow’s run. At almost 65 never thought I would be able to do anything like this. That graduate badge is becoming a real possibility. Bring it on! Happy running everyone.😁
I’m doing W3R1 tomorrow and looking forward to it. The inspiring posts here are really motivating and show me that I can do this! A long way to go to graduation but my mantra as I set out on runs is “slow and steady”, as advised lots by the mentors and experienced runners here. And guess what? It really does work 😀
Hello Oldfloss and everyone in this marvellous community! I’m new to running having spent so many years making so many excuses, busy mum of 3 with full time job and commitments but now thinking I need to get through all those life blocks and mental blocks on the road to good health! I’ve just completed and shuffled my way through W2 R1 and ready for R2 tomorrow with trainers on and out that door🤗
Last night I dreamt that I did the run. I was listening to a podcast and it was all going so well that I was surprised when Jo Whiley told me 25 minutes was up. Hahaha... Disappointing when I woke up and realised!
I’ve done one run this week. I totally forgot I had a minor surgery booked so can’t run this weekend (can’t exercise for 2 days) is it best to just pick up run 2&3 when I can or is it better to repeat the week?
I'm on week two run two tomorrow, this is the first time in 72 years I've felt the need to be fit, retirement has taken it's toll .....palates has helped and so hopefully so will jogging, we will see.
