New running shoes

So after not telling anyone I accidentally told my 73 year old mother who up until her late 60’s was still running marathons (I do not follow her footsteps) was very pleased but horrified by my choice of footwear (apparently primark £12 trainers are not good) so she very kindly treated me to proper running shoes.

So I trotted if to the local running shop and they measured my gait (that works was alien to me up until Saturday) and I came away with a shiny pair of trainers, I eagerly put them on Monday to complete week 3 and oh the agony things hurt that I didn’t think was possible 😬 according to my new personal trainer/motivational speaker AKA my old mum, this is actually good for me and when I’m used to it I’ll feel the benefits on my worn out knees and back, she said alternate between the shoes until I’m used to them.

Does any one else have any advice pearls of wisdom or horror story’s 😬

On a side note I’m off out for week 4 run 1 shortly, not sure how I feel about it, I found week 3 very difficult, I wonder if anyone else struggled with week 3?

I think she’s more concerned I’m so unhealthy I would drop down dead any minute and she would be lumbered with my feral children, it’s more cost effective for her to treat me to a decent pair of shoes now rather than support the kids 🤣

Oh dear.....I was expecting that tale to end "and I strode out gracefully like a gazelle for 10k and felt incredible!" I

I am on the cusp of New Trainer Buying Expedition, but it makes my eyes water at the price....sooo expensive. I think i would have a full blown tantrum if they didn't turn me into a marathon runner instantly.

I hope they break in soon and make you feel awesome 🤞

I’m not sure I’ll ever reach gazelle stage but I definitely think I’ve stopped looking like I’m having a stroke or heart attack 🤣

Today was better, I must admit I have never owned a pair of trainers the closest I ever get is a pair of converse so I was rather surprised by the cost, but I assume they last a while

Is your mum up for adopting me? I’ve not been shoe shopping for weeks! 🤣

The shoes should feel great soon... if they don’t, I’d be going back to the shop for help/refitting.

I also had the eye watering experience of purchasing new trainers recently! My previous trainers weren't too bad so I didn't have any settling in problems but they are just so much more comfortable, please stick with them!
