First post graduation run

So I graduated on Tuesday and went out for my first graduation run today. I had intended to repeat the week nine runs - but stepping stones came up on my mp3 player so in a rash moment I went with that. Laura came with me and what can I say apart from that it was really weird but I quite enjoyed it! The starting pace was really slow and I got into all sorts of problems trying to keep it slow- ended up kicking up my heels like a show pony! Even the fastest pace was slower than my normal cadence (did I really say that?). The whole thing went really quickly as I was concentrating so hard and although I knew I was slower than usual it was actually fun. Looking back at run the map I covered exactly 4k in 30 minutes - almost 0.8k less than my graduation run. Interestingly - although I was not out of puff at any stage, I could really feel it in my legs afterwards - I would guess that I put in a lot more little fast steps in that 4k than in a speedier 5k - that has to help in building those running legs surely? I came across a few runners today - so if you encountered a strange woman muttering "one, two, three, four" it may have been me - I have you all a cheery wave!

I tried stepping stone last week and had a similar experience. Struggled to run to the beat and slower than usual. Still not sure what I think of it but I suspect it did me good and will return to it in the future.

Stepping stones is weird,,but so useful.. as the C25K + podcasts are about so much more than running:) All specially designed to build on different disciplines... try some consolidation first then do the podcasts... they are brilliant.. my favourites... Speed ..yes folks, Speed and Stamina... :)

Go you and well done:)

PS

When I did Stepping Stones, it was like a weird soft shoe shuffle... Weird indeed.. I did each of the podcasts three times to make sure which I enjoyed... all improving stamina and strength and speed:)

Thank you - I intended to do a consolidation run today - but I think something different was just what I needed for my mind if not my legs! will try the other podcasts at some point.

I like these podcasts as they give a bit of structure post graduation - I like the Speed and Stamina ones best - but the stepping stone one is great if you fancy a laid back sort of a run.

Enjoy your post grad running 😊
