W3R1........

So I started doing this with a group on a Wednesday night at work and after the first run I realised there was no way I would be able to wait a full week not doing anything until the next Wednesday.....so I found the app and you guys and now do two on my own in between, but after this evening run I feel a little deflated as I was at the back with a back marker and the rest of the group (also non runners before this) we’re at least a 3 minute run in front of me and they don’t do anything extra!!!! Do you think the program will catch up with them later on or am I really this unfit?!? I’m just trying to find some rational behind it .... I knew one or two might be miles in front but not them all!! 😳

Could I do anything else to help build up my stamina I was thinking maybe cycling a couple of times a week......

Sorry for the long post......I was so hoping to feel elated tonight not deflated.

TIA

Well done and don't despair.

If you read the guide to the plan it explains about cross training with non impact exercise on your rest days. healthunlocked.com/couchto5... This will improve your overall stamina and strength.

Running in groups does not work for everyone, because of the reasons you have mentioned, but we can be your virtual buddies for all your runs. Personally, I believe that you are better off doing C25k by yourself and at your own pace, which removes all compromises and pressures.

keep going, you will be fine.

For me, one of the best things about this forum is the positivity and encouragement. So when I’m finding a run tough going, I remind myself of forum members who would be running beside me, or cheering me on. And because they’re in my mind, they’re always going at my pace! ;)

One of the hardest things to learn is about pacing yourself - if you’re already practicing that skill, and not injuring yourself by trying to go at someone else’s pace, you’re getting off to a great start and learning something very important as you go.

Keep at it, do your three runs a week, and focus on the positives for you, not on the others around you. You can do this!

Thank you, your right I need to do this for me, I’m putting in the hard work so I need to be proud of my achievements ..... looking back 3 weeks ago I couldn’t even talk after I’d finished the first run !! Be more positive that’s me know.......😜
