Muddy graduation today!

My head still has trouble believing that I can run for thirty minutes - luckily my legs have more or less got the message. I started C25k at the beginning of February and have done the runs in the rain, frost, in snow and on snow and once on a sunny day - but mostly in mud dodging the puddles in the holes in the track. This morning's run was the same. I run with just Laura who keeps me sternly to task and her rather eclectic choice of music and nothing else to pace myself with during the runs. For my graduation run today I took my phone and 'run the the map' - when Laura said at the end of 30 minutes that I could stop I ignored her (first time ever - sorry Laura!) - just because I could. Well - graduation run was 4.71 k in 30 minutes and that extra bit took me to 5k in 31.29 - not quite 5k in 30 but as a 59 year old granny I'll take that! Turns out that my pace is pretty consistent too - slightly faster for the first kilometre - second, third and fourth at the same average speed and then speeding up a bit (in the excitement of seeing the podium round the corner) at the end.

I have mostly 'lurked' on this forum but the good advice, support and encouragement offered by the mentors and all of the C25k'ers is brilliant and really makes a difference. Thanks everyone!

What a brilliant Graduation run, Laura will be thrilled that you were able to carry on to do the 5k (and very speedy too!)👏👏👏

Enjoy your celebrations, you are up on that podium and wearing your shiny new badge...

Love this !

It gives me real hope that I will be able to complete and graduate the Couch to 5k.

What happens now you have finished it? Will you go in to train for a 10k ?

Well done 👩‍🎓

Of course you will - just keep getting out and putting one foot in front of the other!

I think that I need the structure and goals that c25k does so well - so I will carry on for a bit with Laura and maybe take a look at the follow on podcasts on speed and stamina etc and see how it goes. I don't think I will tackle 10k just yet!

That’s what I was thinking 🤔

Left to my own devices I’m not sure I would even have attempted this let alone carry it on. Great tips there, thanks x

Brilliantly done. Congratulations. That's a great time. Faster than this 48 year old managed in his first 5k. I'm guessing you've well and truly caught the running bug. Happy running!

Well done for not only running for 30 minutes+ but for carrying on until you did the 5k. Sounds like you are flying now😁 Question - does Laura also give you music? I'm listening to Michael J.

I use the podcast downloaded from the website and an mp3 player - it comes complete with music and Laura - I didn't know about the Ap until later and it would seem a bit disloyal to Laura to swap! The music is an aquired taste but I quite like it!
