Week 2 complete

I started my journey in January but on my own, looking at the c25k app I thought there was no chance of me doing it. Jogging for 30 seconds had me breathless and recovery was long.....I was so unfit. After trying different methods and changing things round I came to a point I felt stuck in a rut and progression had stopped. So I decided to download c25k and give it a go, at least I'd be able to get through the first run of week1 run1.

Now it was difficult, I'm not denying that, more challenging than I expected considering what I'd been doing, but I've persisted, and with weeks out due to work being chaos and exhaustion kicking in I decided to get back to it today. Week 2 run 2 and 3 complete. I know I'm supposed to take rest days and my original aim was to do run 2 and walk back, but I didn't feel too bad, so decided to do run 3 to get home again.

I could tell it was slower nearer the end but somewhere towards the end of run 2 and into run 3 it felt good and ended up being my quickest mile.

I never thought I could do it, and from my initial fitness level it goes to show if I can do it anyone can. Keep going. It doesn't matter how slow you go just don't stop. 😀

Well done Tigercub89 !

Hi Tigercub, I can say this totally as a fully signed up member of Hypocrites Anonymous, it’s not a great idea to run runs back to back especially in the early days - the adrenaline rush can make you feel invincible, but it can also cause problems later on.

The plan is supported and ratified as a gentle, stretch to get you to run 30 minutes without danger of injury. If you tailor it to what you feel like doing, then if you get a problem, there’s not a lot we can do to support you, because you’re not doing the C25K plan.

I don’t mean to nag, as I say I am a hypocrite - I did 2 runs on consecutive days, but now I look back and say why did I rush? The plan gets you there and all the lovely folk on here can relate to exactly where you are on the plan to help, cheer and encourage you.

Nonetheless it is brilliant that you’ve got that buzz and achieved what you have well done.

Congratulations on getting back to the programme. Be careful doing what might be too much at once but enjoy the ride and feeling yourself getting fitter. 😊

Welcome.. well done for starting.... but do not run without a rest day between runs... however you feel..

The advice in here will help you...rest days are non negotiable if you are following this plan... we have seen too many folk end up on the IC or just giving up...by moving too quickly too soon. Our muscles need time to heal...

Lots to do on rest days to get rid of surplus energy and which will help build up stamina and strength..you are at the beginning of a structured programme...a great one.. take it easy and enjoy it:)

As others have suggested you might find doing 2 runs back to back is overdoing it😅. Turn back at the halfway bell and you should be ok😉. Good luck.
